4 Part I – Application & Grades Download PDF and fill in all relevant blue boxes Download PDF Must have: ◦ Advisor’s signature ◦ Make appointment with advising center or graduate mentor Attach the following: ◦ Official Transcript ◦ CAPP Sheet (Undergraduate) DUE: March 1 for Fall 2013; October 1 for Spring 2014

5 Part II – Tests and Clearances Submit the following ELECTRONICALLY as pdf attachments to email: ◦ Copy of Praxis II / PECT scores – all 3-4 pages of the report!  Undergrads must TAKE  Grads (including 5 th yr students) must PASS before student teaching ◦ Clean and Valid copies of all 3 Pennsylvania clearances ◦ Signed Act 24 sheet ◦ Negative TB test result DUE: August 1 for Fall 2013; Jan 1 for Spring 2014

6 Praxis I (transitioning to PAPA) Undergraduates need to pass this for candidacy Graduates are no longer required to take PAPA Beginning in April 2012, the PECT Pre-service Academic Performance Assessment (PAPA) will be the means of assessing reading, mathematics, and writing skills for undergraduate candidates seeking a state-approved Pennsylvania educator preparation certificate. All undergraduate candidates for initial certification will be required to pass the PAPA as well as the test corresponding to the specific certification area. Post- baccalaureate candidates for initial certification are not required to take the PAPA. Post-baccalaureate candidates must take the specific certification area test(s). If you are already certified and adding another certificate, you only have to take the test(s) corresponding to the new certification area. For more information, click here.click here

7 P Praxis II / PECT These tests vary depending upon your area of certification. 8 Important Reminders About Tests and Scores Always be sure to save both hard copies and electronic copies of all test results, as many of them are only available for a short amount of time. Test scores can sometimes take up to one month to receive, so plan accordingly in regards to the deadlines.

10 Deadlines Fall semester March 1 st Applications, official transcripts, and CAPP sheets (undergrads only) due by March 1 st of the prior Spring semester August 1 st Test results, clearances due by August 1 st Spring semester October 1 st Applications, official transcripts, and CAPP sheets (undergrads only) due by October 1 st of the prior Fall semester. January 1 st Test results, clearances due by January 1 st

11 Submission Completed packet should be delivered to Field Office – MGH 201 Paper clips, NO staples Hand deliver, DON’T leave it on an empty desk! Field Office Open 8:30AM – 4:30PM daily

12 What’s Next? TEC (Teacher Education Committee) meets to review applications Consists of faculty from across content areas Approval / Conditional Approval / Rejection

13 Student Teaching Assignment Grade levels vary; Preferences considered but are not guaranteed You will be placed in a local school within reasonable driving distance from the University All placements will be made by the Field Director- students cannot request or make own placements Placements are final

14 Receiving Your Assignment Email indicating TEC decision Approval + Completed Packet = Assignment Letter Conditional approval + Completed Packet = Assignment Letter after end-of-semester review Rejection = No assignment Letters available upon confirmation with cooperating teacher (hopefully before end of prior semester)
