Appointed General of the Continental Army in 1775 and successfully wins the Revolutionary War for the 13 colonies.

5. Sons of Liberty
Patriot organization responsible for the Boston Tea Party and the tar and feathering of British officials

6. Daughters of Liberty
Organization that signed pledges against drinking tea and published notices in the local newspaper promising they would not buy British-made cloth.

Massachusetts delegate to Continental Congress who forcefully argued for independence from Great Britain.

Virginia firebrand who argued for independence from Great Britain saying “Give me liberty, or give me death!”

9. Samuel Adams
Sam Adams helped plan the Boston Tea Party(1773). Sons of Liberty founded in 1765.
Massachusetts firebrand, Sons of Liberty leader, started Committee of Correspondence, and was a delegate to Continental Congress.

10. John Hancock
Massachusetts patriot, Sons of Liberty leader, president of the Second Continental Congress, who signed the Declaration of Independence first (the signature was quite large)
John Hancock owned a shipping company and was Townsend Acts, Tea Act, and Coercive Acts.

11. General Thomas Gage
British General who was ordered to arrest Sam Adams and John Hancock

General Gage commanded British troops in Boston

12. Paul Revere
Man went on a famous ride to warn citizens before the British marched through Lexington on their way to Concord.
Paul Revere was a silversmith and Sons of Liberty member.

13. William Prescott
Man who led the Patriots at the Battle of Bunker (Breed’s) Hill
British soldiers marching toward Prescott’s Massachusetts Patriot troops at Bunker Hill.
Prescott told the Patriot soldiers “Do not fire until you see the whites of their eyes!”

14. Dr. Joseph Warren
He signaled two riders that the British were coming; he later fought and died at Breed’s Hill, knowing he would likely give his life for the cause of liberty
