1,000 yrs. B4 next empire in Mesopotamia King Hammurabi conquered N. & S. city-states of Mesopotamia 1792 B.C. - Controlled region Laws protected weak ppl. Some punishments- Cruel Created laws in the empire & laws were written down Babylonians 1780 B.C.-Hammurabi’s Code written Code- Written group of laws All aspects of life were effected by the laws Ex.- Crime, agriculture, family, etc. Hammurabi’s Code-Oldest set of laws 282 laws everyone had to follow

Wrote down hist. & religious belief Hebrew Bible Language spoke= Hebrew

1st, Why was the creation of written laws important to the creation of a civilization? 2nd, How could the spread of the Jewish faith impact other societies around the world? 3rd, What were developments the Assyrians created? 4th, What were some of the major discoveries the Chaldeans had?
