3. Buckle Up-New Jersey’s Seat Belt Law
Driver and all passengers in the vehicle must wear a seatbelt. Seat belts can save and improve a motorist’s chances of surviving by 60 percent.
3 things that seat belts do are: Keep motorist and passengers from being thrown in a collision, slows down body with the vehicle, and prevents motorist from sliding off the seat during sudden stops and turns.

5. Child Passenger Safety Law
Children under 8 who are less than 57 inches (4 feet 9 inches) must be seated in a booster seat in a rear seat of the vehicle.
Children under age 4 who weigh less than 40 pounds must be seated in a forward facing seat in the rear seat of the vehicle.

6. Starting A Parked Car
New Jersey law requires all motorists to restrict vehicle idling to 3 minutes or less.

7. Steering
The hand positions when driving are 9 and 3 o’clock.

9. Proper Braking
Many new motorist make the common mistake of slamming the brake pedal even if there is no emergency.
Stopping never depends on the time of day.

10. Driving Signals
Turn on on the turn signal at 100 feet before turning.

11. Driving in Reverse
A motorist’s head and body should be turned to the right until he/she can see clearly through the back window of the car without the use of mirrors. The motorist's right hand and arm should be placed over the back of the front passenger seat with the left hand grasping the top of the steering wheel.

12. Turning
3 point k turn-The vehicle should be stopped several inches from the left curb or street edge. The motorist should then back up slowly while turning the steering wheel to the right stopping several inches from the right curb or street edge. The motorist should next move the vehicle forward while turning the steering wheel to the left. Lastly the motorist should straighten the wheels of the car in the direction they are going.

13. Parking
When parking a vehicle facing downhill the wheels of the car should be turned toward the curb. “Towards”
When parking a vehicle facing uphill the wheel of the car should be turned away from the curb. “Up up and away”
