10. Extended Metaphor
An extended metaphor is a metaphor (a comparison) that runs through multiple sentences or lines of text.
Example…. An extended metaphor in The Kite Runner is the fractured father/son relationship between Amir and Baba. There are many metaphors and references to this complicated relationship.
