5 Reading and library books
Home reading books are changed on Mondays Please write a comment in your child’s record book when they have read with you. Books will only be changed once a comment has been entered stating their progress. Library books are changed on Mondays Lost books incur a £3 charge for replacement

6 Spellings and multiplications
The children with have a spelling assessment at the start of September and at each half term. Spellings appropriate to your child’s ability are sent out weekly and tested every Thursday. The 2, 5 and 10 times tables are practised daily and tested once a week.

7 Money and Letters Snack money is priced at £1.50 per week.
This will be collected by a new electronic system, details about this will be confirmed before September. Please check your child’s bag each day for letters and notifications. If you wish your child to have milk at snack time, you will need to order and pay for this online or by sending off a form. Please ask if you need further information.

8 Themes for the year Many of our subject areas are covered through cross-curricular themes. You will receive a summary of the content each time the theme changes. This year they are: What do I see when I look in the mirror? Who’s afraid of the dark? Magical Mystery tour X marks the spot!

9 Record of achievement Each term your child will be assessed and this information will be documented in termly reports. The information reflects how your child is performing in comparison to the National Expected standard for their year group. Between reports and parents’ evenings please feel free to make an appointment to discuss your child’s progress.

10 The Phonics Screening Check
Takes place in June Children have forty words to read to a teacher, some real and some ‘nonsense’ To meet the expected standard the child has to read a specified amount of words out of 40 correctly. Further meetings will be arranged to discuss the Phonics Screening Check and how you can support your child at home.
