Many people did not own their own land. EMPLOYMENT There was a shortage of jobs in the cities. POPULATION The population of Europe had increased. FREEDOM There was very little religious freedom. PUSH FACTORS There was plenty of room for people. There was the hope of more freedom. PULL FACTORS There was the opportunity to own land. There were jobs available.
