7 Professional Organizations
A group of individuals join together to reach a goal by cooperation and division of tasks among themselves. Goal of organizational development is to increase worker satisfaction and lead to increased productivity and quality. The health care worker plays an important part in an organization by setting goals, meeting challenges, and implementing ideas. Ask the students to name as many professional health care associations as they can. Discuss which health care workers would join each association.

Set of rules for conducting a meeting in an organized and efficient manner Robert's Rules of Order Parliamentary procedure maintains a sense of order during meetings and ensures that all members have a chance to participate equally. Give a brief explanation of Robert’s Rules of Order. When, where, and how is it used? The first edition of Robert’s Rules of Order, written by Henry Martyn Robert, was published back in 1876.

Provide other examples of agendas for meetings, preferably in a health care setting. Set up a mock meeting scenario, and ask students to list an agenda for that meeting. Write their answers on the chalkboard, and discuss relevancy for that type of meeting.

The résumé should include Educational and work experience Skills Achievements Other activities Discuss importance of a good resume. Obtain copies of good and bad resumes, and let students critique. What makes that resume good or poor?

Typed on good-quality paper Free of errors Concise Applicant should take at least three copies of the résumé to the job interview. Ask the students why it is important to take multiple copies of a good-quality résumé.
