Referencing and plagiarism

What is referencing? Referencing is how you acknowledge the work of other people in your own assignments. When you have used their words or even just their ideas!

Why should I reference? Think about how you have felt when someone has copied your work? Has anyone ever used your identify or ‘stolen’ from you? Good referencing will help you to avoid accusations of plagiarism.

Why should I reference? Plagiarism
This is when you copy somebody else’s words or ideas. If you just copy sentences from a book or a website without saying where you got them from that’s plagiarism, and it’s the same if you do it with a friend’s essay. We need to be strict about plagiarism, and anyone found to plagiarise could fail an assignment and could even be kicked off their course… Write your own definition
