6 PE 1 Physical Education 1, (P.E. 1), is required class for graduation at Marlboro County High School.

7 How To Get an A Dress out Everyday ( The right way!!)
Participate Everyday!!!

8 Dressing Out No Tank Tops No Short Shorts
Must wear Tennis Shoes( No boots, no Toms, and No Sperry's)

9 Why do we Dress Out Students are required to have their own PE uniform and dress out each day. In the colder months, they may wear additional clothing as required to keep them comfortable. When we dress out, it shows responsibility on our part, that we have the necessary attire for any type of activity. We are prepared for class with safe clothing and footwear, and are ready for action.

10 Why do we Dress Out? It’s also a large part of our grade. Being prepared is essential to getting a top grade in PE. If we are not prepared, it slows things down and if you don’t dress out, those points are gone forever. They cannot be recovered.

11 Participation Everyday!! No siting down unless told to do so
Give PE a 100% Let effort rise above your EXCUSES!!

COME TO CLASS READY TO PARTICIPATE Actively participate in class activities Stays focused and on task during class activities Demonstrates willingness to work with others and in teams Follows all class rules PLAY FAIR-PLAY NICE Respect the rules of each game Respect your teacher's and their decisions Give everybody an equal chance to participate Maintain your self-control at all times

13 Rules No Cell Phones/ Electronics No Food or Drinks
Do not open Gym Doors No sitting down unless told to do so Everyone goes to the locker room area (Hallway) Everyone leaves Locker room area at the same time No Horseplay (Keep all body parts to self)

14 Rules Do not Move Desks Once bell has ring NO TALKING UNLESS TOLD TO DO SO!! No talking in hallway No talking while teacher talking Do not bother equipment unless told to do so.

15 Outside (Track) Must stay on Track Not in the Bleachers
Do not go in Field House

Fitness Test Frisbee Games Ultimate Football Kickball Indoor Baseball Boccer Volleyball Basketball Etc.

Walk ( 10 min or more) Warm-ups (15 min.) Go over rules/Review/Quest./ Act. (5 min.) Activity ( 30 min. or more) Cool Down/ Quest./Rules ( 5 min.) Dress back out (10 min. or less)

18 Walking toward a healthier you!
Research has shown that walking at least 30 minutes a day can help you: Reduce your risk of coronary heart disease and stroke Improve your blood pressure, blood sugar levels and blood lipid profile Maintain your body weight and lower the risk of obesity Enhance your mental well-being Reduce your risk of osteoporosis Reduce your risk of breast and colon cancer Reduce your risk of non-insulin dependent (type 2) diabetes There really are so many benefits for such a simple activity!

19 Warm-ups Warm-up: a 10 to 15 minute period during which the body is prepared for vigorous exercise Always go to your assign spot Ex: Side shuffle Backpedal Jog Luge Walk Skipping Etc.

20 Cool Down A period following active physical activity in which stretching or milder exercise is performed to allow the body gradually to return to normal. Ex: Walking

21 What is Physical Education?
Physical Education is defined as “education through movement”. Physical Education is designed to help you learn to maintain an health active lifestyle.

22 Brief History of Physical Education
From the late 1700s to the mid-1800s Germany, Sweden, and England - influenced the early development of physical education in the United States. The 1800s were an important time for the inclusion of physical education in schools across America. The Round Hill School, a private school established in 1823 in Massachusetts, was the first to include physical education as an integral part of the curriculum.

physical education was not offered in the public schools until 1855, when Cincinnati, Ohio, became the first city school system to offer this type of program to children.
