1 How to Read your Transcript
What It Says About You

2 Parts of your Transcript
Demographics School Information Credit History Performance Information Testing Immunizations Legend

3 Demographics Pretty self explanatory…
Name, Address, Student ID, DOB etc. School Information… Principal, School No. , Accreditation, College Board Code etc.

4 Credit History The Meat & Potatoes
Course Grade (9th, 10th, 11th, 12th), Year (2009/10), Title of Course (Auto Tech I) Mark (Grade = 70) You need a 70 or above to pass the course. Quality Points (Weighted & Unweighted) depends on courses. Regular courses such as, Physical Science are worth 4 points. This means the most you can attain is 4points. Honor courses such as, English I Honors are worth 5 points. This means the most you can attain is 5points. College level courses such as (Advanced Placement) AP US History are worth 6 points. *Dual Enrollment (Career & College Promise) courses can go either way, 5 or 6 depending on the curriculum (Juniors & Seniors only)

5 NC STANDARDIZED GRADING SCALE INFORMATION

6 Cont. The majority of your courses are worth 1 credit.
Courses such as, Auto Tech II & Auto Tech III are for 2 class periods, therefore they are worth 2 credits. Previous School Flags (i.e. U)= Course contributes toward UNC minimum admission requirements- In a nutshell, this is needed if you’re considering going to a 4yr college/university

7 Continue Credit Information
Please look at Mr. Foster’s transcript… As you can see he had a difficult 1st semester due to his attendance. FF= Did not pass due to attendance, which = NO CREDIT EARNED *Please remember it is vital that you make an effort to come to school AND learn. As you can see Mr. Foster did not pass Health and PE (67). So, now he will have to take it again. (Don’t let this be the show stopper when you’re expecting to graduate!)

8 Now let’s look at Mrs. Baker’s transcript
There has been a lot of questions regarding Math I that was taken during Middle School. I took Math I in Middle School does it count as a Graduation requirement? YES

9 Cont. As you can see Mrs. Baker did receive a grade, therefore it DOES fulfill her graduation requirements, but it is NOT factored into her GPA. This means she does not receive any quality points. The same holds true for students who may have taken a foreign language while in Middle School providing that the course is aligned to the North Carolina Second Language Standard Course of Study for Grades 9-12.

10 Performance Information
Cumulative GPA Weighted Cumulative GPA Unweighted Class Rank (out of the number of students in your class… this is where you rank) Total Points: Weighted Total Points: Unweighted Total Credits: Earned: Potential:

11 Testing Information Your testing information represents everything from your 8th grade EOG’s to present day EOC’s/VoCats. Remember your EOC’s, VoCats, and NCFEs count as 25% of your final grade, therefore filling in the bubbles or writing “I don’t know” probably won’t be the best choice to make when it comes to your grades.

12 The Rest of the Stuff Immunizations Attendance
Previous school information Work Related Experience (depends on the curriculum being followed) *This does not apply to most of you.

13 What does your Transcript say about you?
Your transcript is your Academic Resume’ of YOU! It may sound corny, but DO your BEST! If you struggled a little, that is okay…. Show how much you have grown. Challenge yourself! If not, trust me, you are only hurting yourself.

14 Transcripts Please return Transcripts to your Homeroom Teacher.
You will receive your own copy with your registration materials
