3 Your High School Transcript
Check your transcript for accuracy of the following information: Name and Address Off-Campus classes Credits and Grades earned (repeats, grade changes, etc…) Graduation Status * Review your transcript and graduation status using Aeries *Obtain all official copies of your transcript from Mrs. Galuppo in the counseling center

4 High School Graduation Requirements
Complete a minimum of 240 credits: *SUBJECT AREA: CREDITS: English: 4 Years Social Science: 4 Years (World Geography, World History, U.S., Govt./Econ) Mathematics: 3 Years Science: 2 Years (Life, Physical) PE : 2 Year Visual & Performing Art OR LOTE (language other than English) : 1 Year 10 Health: ½ Year Software Applications: ½ Year Electives: 70 Credits _ 240 credits Meet the Health, Technology, and Algebra 1 requirement. Pass the CAHSEE (California High School Exit Exam) Pass the Swim Test Complete 60 Hours of Community Service *All of the above info is tracked under the CREDIT SUMMARY portion located in lower right-hand corner of a students transcript

5 Off-Campus Courses If you decide to take an off-campus course, AND want the course to appear on your CHS transcript, follow all of the steps below: Speak with your alpha-counselor PRIOR to registering for an off-campus course. He or she can determine if the course will meet graduation requirements and if adding the course to your transcript will benefit you. For MPC courses, submit a CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT FORM. It must be filled out completely, including all applicable signatures (student, counselor, parent, and principal). Once you have completed the course, it is YOUR responsibility to have an official transcript from the institution where you took the course sent directly to your counselor. Students can apply a maximum of 40 credits off-campus coursework to their high school transcript with a MAXIMUM of 20 credits per year

7 Private & Out of State College Entrance Requirements
Admission requirements vary by institution, but most follow similar UC/CSU guidelines in Years of subject requirements and test requirements Students should check with individual campuses admissions offices or visit their websites to learn of current admission requirements Many private colleges require students to obtain a letter of recommendation -Brag Packets must be filled out and given to the student’s alpha-counselor (available on the counseling webpage)

9 UC campuses Applicants must meet the A-G subject requirements Visit for a complete list of Carmel High School UC-approved courses Admission determined by eligibility index AND Comprehensive Review (GPA, test scores, personal essay, extra-curricular activities, etc…)

10 UC/CSU College Entrance Requirements
A. History/Social Science: 2 Years (including US/Govt) B. English: Years C. Math: 3 Years required (min.Alg.2) 4 Years recommended D. Lab Science: Years required 3 Years recommended E. World Language: 2 Years required F. Visual/Performing Arts: 1 Year required G. College-Prep Electives: 1 Year required UC and CSU ALSO have a Test Requirement

11 College Admission Testing Requirements
UC REQUIRES: 1. SAT Reasoning OR ACT with Writing 2. Two SAT Subject tests in different subject areas (NOTE: World Language must be tested with Listening) CSU REQUIRES: 1. SAT Reasoning or ACT Private/Out-of-State Universities REQUIRE: 1. Check with each college individually as requirements may vary.

12 College Admission Testing in the JUNIOR YEAR
SAT and ACT: We recommend you begin taking them in the Spring Year of Junior year. SAT SUBJECT TEST: Take as soon as you can after completing the corresponding course. REGISTER FOR THESE EXAMS ON-LINE…     ACT: SAT:

14 Two-Year College Option (Community College)

15 Community College There are 123 California Community Colleges
A few local Community Colleges: Monterey Peninsula College (MPC) Monterey, CA Hartnell College Salinas, CA Cabrillo College Santa Cruz, CA TWO OPTIONS: 1. Students can receive an Associates Degree (A.A or an A.S) -A basic college or vocational degree that can be earned in approx. two-years if attending full-time 2. Students can choose to transfer to a 4-year University to earn a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science (B.A or B.S) degree. TAG Program: Guarantees admission to specific UC Campuses IGETC Program: Guarantees coursework will be accepted by UC and CSU campuses Seven UC campuses have transfer agreements w/ California Community Colleges

16 Community College Entrance Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age OR Earned a high school diploma OR Earned the equivalency of a high school diploma (GED or pass the CHSPE) No SAT or ACT test requirement How do I take classes at a community college while at CHS? 1. Fill out a CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT FORM available on the Carmel Counseling Webpage 2. Talk to your alpha-counselor Assist.org: Allows students to see which community college courses correspond to UC/Cal State courses and satisfy entrance or major requirements.

NAVIANCE College Search database: -Sign up, receive notification and reminders of college visits -Find relevant admissions info for over 2500 colleges -Track your progress during the college admissions process -Parents can share access with students - NAVIANCE TUTORIAL NAVIANCE tutorials are provided for students by appointment in the College & Career Center. 19 College & Career Exploration
Students are encouraged to explore college and career options in a variety of ways: College & Career Center (located in the library) stop by to view college catalogues, attend a college visit, speak to College & Career Center coordinator, Crystal Casey NAVIANCE programs, available on the Counseling website Students should take: ROP Courses, Internship, Work Experience -These courses provide hands-on, practical experience.
