3 SDUSD Graduation Requirements: In order to receive a diploma….  Social Studies = 6 credits  English = 8 credits  Math = 6 credits  Science = 6 credits  Fine/Practical Art = 3 credits  Physical Education = 4 credits  Electives = 11 credits Total of 44 credits

4 Additional Graduation Requirements  Community Service = 40 Hours (or ten hours for every year of attendance at Hoover)  Internship (Hoover specific)  2.0 Minimum 9-12 G.P.A. (academic & citizenship)  Computer Literacy  California High School Exit Exam (English & Math)  Senior Portfolio/Exhibition

8 What are the A-G Requirements?  Requirements to get into CSU and UC schools.  Most private schools also take the A-G requirements.  For Community Colleges students you do not need to meet the A-G requirements  Students must meet the A-G requirements or the student CANNOT go to a 4-year college

9 "A - G" Coursework Requirements  To satisfy this requirement, you must complete the 15 year long high school courses. At least seven of the 15 year long courses must be taken in your last two years of high school.  The courses you take to fulfill the Subject Requirement must be certified by the University as meeting the requirement and must be included on your school's UC/CSU- certified course list.UC/CSU- certified course list  Check @ https://doorways.ucop.edu/list/site

10 A-G Requirements – Must Have ‘C’ or Better AreaSubjectYears A. History and Social Science -2 years including 1 year of U.S. history or 1 semester of U.S. history and 1 semester of civics or American government and 1 year of social science 2 B. English -4 years of college preparatory English composition and literature 4 C. Math- 3 years including Algebra I, Geometry, Intermediate Algebra, or higher mathematics, take one each year (4 years are recommended) 4 D. Laboratory Science -2 years including 1 biological science and 1 physical science (3 years are recommended, 4 is even better) 2 E. World Language -2 years of the same language; (3 years are recommended, 4 is even better) 2 F. Visual and Performing Arts -1 year of dance, drama or theater, music, or visual art 1 G. College Preparatory Elective -One more year of any college preparatory subject 1

12 Destination: College  Meet with your counselor.  Join a school club/sport or other positive activities.  Attend school everyday.  Get your parents involved.  Take challenging courses.  Aim for A’s and B’s in all of your classes.  Surround yourself with positive support.  Develop good study habits.
