Literacy
This week we have been learning about the job role of a firefighter.
We have been focusing on writing labels for the Firefighters equipment.
In our guided reading we have been reading several non-fiction texts about firefighters.
We have been learning that information can be retrieved from books.
Next week we will be focusing on non-fiction texts about police officers.
This week we have really enjoyed learning about Firefighters. The children have also enjoyed their first week of Welly Wednesday. They especially enjoyed investigating the schools nature garden and learning about different trees.
Next week we will be learning about Police Officers and how they help the community. We will also be having special visits from a Police Officer and a caterer from Kirkham Grammar School.
Phonics
This week we have been revising the Phase 3 sounds er, igh and ure.
We have also learnt some Phase 4 tricky including were and there.
Our focus this week has been on identifying trigraphs and digraphs in the middle of words.
Maths
This week we have been focusing on weight and number recognition and formations.
The children have also enjoyed participating in an outdoor practical Math's of the Day lesson.
