3 Stage 1: Low Growth Hunters and Gatherers Unpredictable food
supply made for high CDRs Transition into domesticated farming—high CBR No countries** are currently in this stage There are remote groups and some people living with these conditions.

4 Stage 2: CDR drops! But CBR stays high. This happens in
1800’s in U.S and England: Industrial Revolution 1950’s in African, Asian and Latin American countries: Medical Revolution. Combination of farm and factory Most African countries are still in this stage.

5 Stage 3: Moderate Growth
CBR begins to drop. Smaller families NIR slows down Countries enter this stage because of the change in social norms. Low IMR People live in Urban Areas and work in Factories. Asian and Latin American countries are in this stage.

6 Stage 4: Low Growth CBR and CDR are about equal Zero Growth
Replacement Rate TFR of 2.1 or lower Career, (service) birth control, education, time and money. United States, Japan, European Union countries are in this stage.
