4 Fall of Qin Shi passed away
Peasants fed up with forced labor and high taxes = rebelled Noble were eager to take power and created large armies against the new emperor 206 BC Liu Bang , peasant rebel leader, defeated the Qin. Went on to found the Han Dynasty one of the Chinese greatest dynasty’s Fall of Qin

5 Han Dynasty – Restoring Control
Ruled 400 years, influenced so much Chinese people refer to themselves as the Han people Liu Bang believed he ruled with mandate of heaven (approval of gods), gained loyalty of people by softening harsh laws/taxes, gained military loyalty by giving them land Restored Confucianism to popularity in China Son took throne but was too young to rule so his mother, Empress Lu took over (one of many wives) Once son died young, named a series of infants to maintain her power, died/princes and officials had whole Lu family killed – incredibly common after. 6 Wudi took China to it’s height, promoted economic growth through road/canals
set up monopolies one group has control over production and distribution of a certain good. In this case on salt-iron-alcohol, took land away from large landowners and placed limits on merchants Why would these things make a great empire/growth? 7 Decline What do you believe led to decline of Han dynasty?
Weak rulers, gap between rich and poor widened, taxes rose to cover cost of huge empire worsening the gap. Revolt finished off empire, entered period of disunion for 350 years.

11 When reading the main idea is the most important point of a communication.
