In the Android Chrome browser, how do you add and sync bookmarks and bookmark folders? On a laptop, how do you prevent accidental touchpad clicks while typing? What is Windows 10 Task View and how do you use it? How do you make Libre Office documents compatible with Microsoft Office? How do you backup an Android phone?

Add a bookmark in Chrome: Open browser and navigate to desired webpage. Click menu icon at upper right (3 dots) and click the star at the top of the menu that opens. In the bookmarks menu that opens, edit the webpage name and select or add a folder. If adding a folder, touch New Folder. In Add Folder screen, type its name. Touch Folder menu and select folder in which you want to create it. Touch Save. In the Add Bookmark screen, touch Save.

Add a bookmark folder in Chrome: Click menu icon at upper right (3 dots) and click Bookmarks entry. Touch menu icon to right of bookmark you want to put in a new folder. Touch Move. Touch “New folder”. Type folder name and touch check mark at top right.

Add a bookmark to the Home Screen: Click menu icon and Bookmarks entry, click the desired bookmark, click settings, and in the menu that opens, scroll down to select “Add to Home screen”.

Sync Chrome bookmarks between phone & PC: To make Chrome on PC sync your data, check that you are signed in. If not, click Menu, Settings and Sign In. Under “Advanced Sync Setting” you can be selective about what to sync. On phone, go to Chrome, click Menu icon, scroll down to Settings. At top it should show “Syncing to” & your Google account name. Tap that and tap “Sync”. Note – below your name is Search Engine control.

Prevent accidental clicks with Windows 10 (&8): Settings>Devices>Mouse & touchpad, under “Touchpad”, select “Long delay” Settings>Devices>Mouse & touchpad>Additional mouse options or Control Panel> Mouse> Under “Pointer options”, check “Hide pointer while typing” and “Show location of pointer when I press CTRL key”.

With USB mouse attached or touchscreen: Settings>Devices>Mouse & touchpad>Additional mouse options or Control Panel> Mouse> under “Device Settings” tab (for Synaptics touchpad), check “Disable pointing device when external pointing device is attached.” or click Disable button. LibreOffice is the most actively developed free and open source office suite, a project of The Document Foundation. It was forked from OpenOffice.org in The LibreOffice suite comprises programs for word processing, spreadsheets, slideshows, diagrams and drawings, databases, and composing mathematical formulae. It is available in 110 languages. It uses the standard OpenDocument file format (ODF) as its native format to save documents for all of its applications.

Backup with Android to cloud: Go to Settings, Backup & reset and make sure “Backup my data” and “Automatic restore” are checked. This backs up phone settings. Go to Settings, Accounts & Sync: Auto-sync data should be checked. Touch Google & your account name. With auto-sync on it backs up App Data, Browser, Calendar, Chrome, Contacts, Drive, Gmail, Fit data, Play Movies & TV, Play Newsstand, Google+, Memo, People details, Picasa Web Albums.

Windows mounts phone as external drive, copy and paste files to PC.

In Settings menu, under Personal, touch “Backup and reset”. Under Personal data, touch “Factory data reset” Read the info and touch “Reset phone”. When prompted, touch “Erase everything”. When it’s finished, select option to reboot.

Reset in Recovery Mode If running Android 5.1 or higher, will need to sign in with Google account after factory reset. Press and hold the Volume up and Power buttons at the same time until the device turns on. Press the Volume down button to select "Recovery mode.“ Hold down the Power button, press the Volume up button and release it. Use the volume buttons to scroll to "wipe data/factory reset" and press the Power button to select it. Scroll down to "Yes - erase all user data" and press the Power button.

By default, it will back up Documents, Pictures, Desktop, Downloads, OneDrive, Music and Video folders, but you can add add or exclude folders. Back up to an external drive or network drive. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Backup, and under “Backup using file history”, select “Add a drive”, and select your drive. This will turn on “Automatically back up my files”. Select “More options” to configure.

For how long – default is forever, but choices range from 1 month to 2 years or when space is needed. Which folders – exclude some defaults or add others. Restore from File History: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Backup and under “Backup using file history” “More options”, select “Restore personal files”. Files saved on another computer can be restored as well. You can restore previous versions. For a given folder, you can restore deleted files.
