The purpose of The Council shall be to provide leadership and membership services through a professional organization of school superintendents: To promote the interest of education and children in NYS; To influence local, state, and national policy affecting education; To enhance the superintendency as a profession; To uphold the integrity of the office; To foster support and collegiality among members; To provide leadership and membership services through a professional organization of school superintendents.

8 Vreneli Banks Assistant Director for Professional Development
Vren is responsible for the majority of early career programs such as Aspiring Superintendents Workshop, Cabinet-level programs and conferences, New Superintendents Institute, and 2nd & 3rd Superintendents Institute. Vren is also in charge of the Superintendents Resource Bank and the Cabinet Resource Bank.

9 Gregory Berck Assistant Director for Governmental Relations & Assistant Counsel
Greg devotes his efforts to The Council's lobbying and advocacy agenda; and assists in negotiating superintendent's employment contracts and providing legal advice and assistance to our members. Greg works with the executive and legislative branches of state and federal government, as well as a variety of state agencies. He is well respected within the halls of the Capitol and with other stakeholders from his tenure as education counsel for the Assembly majority.

Helps negotiate your contract and keeps you employed

11 Dena Gauthier Senior Graphic Designer
Dena is our Senior Graphic Designer on staff and focuses on brand- identity, marketing materials, and conference resources for both The Council and LEAF, Inc. She maintains our print vendor relationships, supports legal, advocacy and strategic partner events and can often be found wandering our exhibit halls with camera in hand!

12 Rina Greco Executive Assistant to the Executive Director
Rina provides administrative support and management of the Executive Office and the General Counsel. She also serves as the liaison to The Council’s Executive Committee and House of Delegates governance groups and manages the elections for New York’s AASA Governing Board and The Council’s governance groups. She also is a part of the Technology team for The Council.

13 Deidre Hungerford Associate Director for Business Development
Deidre manages our Strategic Partnership Program (80+ for ) which supports our legal and contract services of The Council’s budget. Currently, we have over 65 partners. She also manages The Council’s Awards and Scholarships. Deidre creates and manages The Marketplace of Ideas Exhibit Hall at the two annual conferences. She is also responsible for the Golf Tournament, which is held at the Fall Leadership Summit and coordinates regional legal workshops.

14 Bob Lowry Deputy Director
Oversees The Council’s advocacy efforts & media spokesperson Interacts with Governor’s Office, state legislators and staff, State Education Department officials and Regents, and other state agencies. Assists local advocacy efforts. Drafts reports to illuminate how policies are affecting schools and how proposed policies might affect them. Keeps superintendents informed, aid and calls upon them to contact representatives when their efforts can have the greatest impact.

15 Kelly Masline Senior Associate Director and Director of LEAF, Inc.
Kelly works with the LEAF, Inc. Board of Directors to provide professional development to school leaders and district leadership team members by offering opportunities that are relevant and affordable. She also manages grant initiatives and coordinates efforts with BOCES around the state.

16 Theresa Moore Associate Director and Director of Marketing & Communication
Theresa Wutzer Moore has 28 years of experience overall in marketing and communication strategy and 10 years in planning professional meetings. She is a responsible for the design and implementation of two annual conferences with exhibit halls; the development of a multi-level technology plan; and coordination of The Council's social networking initiatives and website. She also oversees The Council's communication plan including writing major publications and serving as the editor the Councilgram newsletter.

17 Deborah Orsini Associate Director for Finance & Human Resources
Deb is responsible for the financial aspects of both The Council and LEAF.  She handles Human Resources,  Technology and Building Operations.

18 Kelley Pratt Administrative Assistant
Kelley’s primary focus is Membership Service and support for our legal team. She provides assistance to all staff within The Council and Leaf, Inc. She is also the primary contact for all Career Center inquiries.

19 Melanie Seiden Assistant Director for Membership
Melanie serves as the primary contact for all things membership including member online access; assisting with membership purchases, transfers and renewals. Melanie also assists with event registrations for events hosted by The Council and LEAF, Inc. while being able to provide answers to any questions or concerns regarding invoices.
