1 EURES European Employment Services
Work for European Employment Service or EURES. A network linking public employment services across Europe to provide a European jobcentre service Like to talk to you today about what opportunities there are to work in Europe. 1

2 The EURES Network? The UK is part of 31 countries that make up the European Economic Area (EEA) UK and other EEA nationals have freedom of movement to live and work within any of those countries. No work permits required. EEA (European Economic Area) member countries - Living & Working Info (Portal) ‘My life on the Island has been great so far and I am really enjoying my work. I would absolutely recommend anyone seeking something new and different to look into seasonal work whether in their own country or outside. This is a great way to travel, meet new people, earn money and gain new skills.’ Seda, Jobseeker Hoxton. People from those countries have right to live and work in any of the other countries (Except Croatia) No work permits req’d – unlike countries further afield like Canada, Australia etc. 2

3 What support can EURES UK offer?

4 What kind of jobs are available?
You will see lots of job adverts for engineers, construction workers, doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals. But there are plenty of opportunities in other sectors, too. Hospitality and tourism is a good place to start – especially if you want a seasonal contract. Teaching English as a Foreign Language is another popular option. Speaking another language can greatly increase your chances of finding work abroad, although some employers are happy to receive applications from jobseekers who only speak English. Each vacancy should clearly detail any language requirements.

5 The EURES job mobility portal www.eures.europa.eu
The EURES Portal is the largest Job vacancy portal in Europe with over 2 million vacancies daily from around the EEA. As well as advertising vacancies the website also showcases good news stories, promotes online jobfair and provide living and working information vital for working in another member state. Jobseekers and staff can use the EURES portal to speak with EURES Advisers from across the network. The software used is very similar to the MS Lync instant message chat feature. Most countries are online to chat on Fridays and UK EURES Advisers are available every Friday between 11am – 12pm
