1 Year X Autumn 1 (2016-2017) Topic: All Dressed up
Dear Families, this term as part of our International Primary Curriculum (IPC) we will be learning and exploring Cultural clothes in the topic All Dressed Up. Have you ever seen an elephant in a dress? Or a giraffe in a pair of jeans? Of course not, because unlike animals, only human beings wear clothes. Clothes are an important part of our lives. They can keep us warm (or cool). We can wear different colours and designs to express our personalities and change them for different occasions, we can follow the latest fashions – and even make them ourselves! So what do the clothes you wear say about you, your culture or your personality? Year X Autumn 1 ( ) Topic: All Dressed up Homework: We hand out homework on…. Friday and expect Maths Homework back on Wednesdays. Our value this term is: EMPATHY Physical Education (PE) and Yoga: We have PE on Monday Please make sure your child has the correct PE kit as shown our our school website and that all kit is clearly labeled.

English: We will Use the text ‘Too much talk to explore stories from different cultures. Learn about the effects of repeated phrases to inspire children to write alterative versions. Science: This term we are learning all about the different seasons. We will explore the differences in the seasons and what changes occur. We will explore how the seasons affect us and our senses. Computing: iSafe – Children will learn how to use technology safely and will learn about stranger danger online. Philosophy, Religious and Ethics (PRE) and Sanskrit: How does Krishna feel? In this unit, exploring Krishna’s damodara-lila and govardhana-lila, children will learn to identify different feelings, recognizing the nature and physical features of positive and negative feelings (knowing how a feeling feels). History and Geography: Geography:- Identify seasonal and daily weather patterns in the United Kingdom and the location of hot and cold areas of the world in relation to the Equator and the North and South Poles. Name and locate the world’s 7 continents and 5 oceans Maths: Number and place value: Read and write numbers in numerals. Count to 100- forward and backwards in multiples of 1,2, 5 and 10’s. Addition and Subtraction: read, write and interpret symbols. Number bonds within 20. Add and subtract 1 digit number to 2 digit numbers by counting objects. Properties of shapes and Position & direction: Relate 2D and 3D to everyday objects. Use language of position; such as, left, on top of, between. Art & Music: Art -Children will use a range of materials to design and make a piece of clothing. Music – Children will use their voices expressively by singing cultural songs and chants. PSHE: Children will explore their feelings by discussing and sharing their likes and dislikes as they settle into year 1. Computing:
