DESIRABLE FOR INTERIOR DESIGNERS
Room controls fade into the background and become part of the room when not in use. Modern industrial design Blends with the Interior Design Interior designers want room controls to compliment the interior design and be part of the aesthetics of the room when not in use. They want smaller and thinner devices with a minimal footprint on the wall to create less distraction from the overall aesthetics of the room. Provides a delightful, welcoming, and intuitive user experience to the guest in a refreshing modern product design. “As an interior designer, I need in-room controls that compliment my room design.” Company Internal

The e7 thermostat detects the light level in the room, and adjusts the backlight illumination to a subtle glow and displays target temperature. Upon approach the thermostat awakens, and provides information about the system such as the measured temperature, outside temperature, and fan status. A large easy-to-read keypad provides a simple interface for guests to set comfort level. EASY FOR HOTEL GUESTS Progressive Disclosure Modes Progressive disclosure is an interaction design technique that sequences information and actions across several screens in order to reduce feelings of being overwhelmed for the user. By disclosing information progressively, you reveal only the essentials and help the user manage the complexity of feature-rich products or applications. When applied to the Newthermostat, we create 3 stages in progressive disclosure: Dormant: When the new e7 is not in use by the guest for more than 15 seconds, or when the room is in an un-occupied state (rented or un-rented), the e7 thermostat will only display target temperature, with a dim LCD and keypad backlight. Proximity Detection: As a user approaches the thermostat as detected by the proximity sensor, the backlights will illuminate to full brightness, and display the fan speed, mode and degrees (C or F). This occurs when the user is within the 1m detection range at 0 degrees in front of the laser sensor. User Interaction: When a button is pressed by the user, the thermostat will then display the modes (heat, cool, eco) and the measured temperature. Responsive: Auditory, visual, and tactile feedback supports a guests interactions for an accessible and responsive experience. Iconography: Using clearly communicated icons instead of text labels ensures that the devices are simple & intuitive to all hotel guets. “It would be delightful to have controls acknowledge my approach and my desired changes.” Company Internal Company Internal

Nightlight The hotel room should be peaceful and comfortable when turning down for the evening. The e7 thermostat is designed to be non-intrusive and intuitive, even at night. When the thermostat is approached at night, the device wakes and illuminates, making it’s location known and highlighting buttons. Dark Hotel Rooms Typically present a challenge for devices in the room with backlit displays and key pads. Too often, guests complain about light pollution, typically caused by the devices in the room. The new e7 thermostat can detect the light level in the room, and turn down the backlight illumination to a subtle glow or off, depending on the property specific requirements. As the guest waves a hand or approaches the device, the backlight can be illuminated brightly, to indicate its location. The e7 thermostats light level detection can be used to adjust the backlight of all INNCOM guest interfacing devices such as MODEVA, EVORA and Elements based on the light level in the room. “I prefer to have tactile feedback so I don’t have to actively look at the controls when I’m trying to use them.” Company Internal

SIMPLE TO INSTALL & MAINTAIN
Our installers use a software tool that simplifies installation and commissioning systems to reduce installation labor. The e7 thermostats Smart Wall Plate captures the configuration upon installation which will automatically upload into a replacement unit. This allows un-trained staff to install a replacement e7 thermostat quickly without training or calling customer service for support, minimizing disturbance to the guest and room out-of-order times. INNTool: A software tool that runs on a Windows based PC and is used to design and create the property specific device configurations and project information needed to execute on the mok-up room or production order. This tool generates the product BOM, the projects Switch Function Matrix, Switch Function Table, and creates the product software configurations to be uploaded by engINN. engINN: A software tool that runs on a Windows based PC and requires the PC-503 USB to DeepMEsh RF protocol converter, that allows the installer to push the engineered product configuration to the devices in the room, and make ad-hoc changes to device parameters such as adjusting dim settings for lighting scenes. engINN can push the configuration of the in-room devices in any one of the following ways: OTC- Over the air configuration: engINN provide the capability to push configurations for commissioning from engINN and PC-503. OTA Direct- Over the Air Direct: engINN provides capability to download the entire firmware image, or individual components (banks) using the PC-503 RF transceiver. OTA DM- Over the Air DeepMesh: engINN can envoke WSCON / IC3 to download the entire firmware image, or individual components (banks) from the IC3 server and broadcast over the DeepMesh Network. OTW- Over the Wire: (USB to serial programmer) engINN provides the capability to download the entire firmware image, or individual components (banks) and should be supported from engINN. Same as OTA direct, but over the wire. e7’s On-Board Parameter Menu: Supports installation of basic stand-alone thermostat installation, and stand-alone EMS. Also provides a quick and easy setup menu to allow a contractor to configure basic temperature control to condition the building during construction without the need for the engINN. Smart Wall Plate: The smart wall plate is a key feature that is designed to retain the thermostats configurations as a redundant backup in the event the thermostat is damaged by the guest, or by environmental conditions such as power surge, or product failure. At the time the thermostat is setup and commissioned by a trained, certified INNCOM installer, contractor, or system integrator, the configuration of the thermostat is pushed from engINN to the on-board EEPROM, and the EEPROM that resides on the Smart Wall Plate. Upon any configuration change after initial setup, the thermostat will synchronize with the smart wall plate to assure the main device and Smart Wall Plate have the same configuration. Therefore, the Smart Wall Plate and the Thermostat shall always be synchronized. This allows for quick replacement of the thermostat by a completely un-trained hotel staff member, who does not need to know how to reconfigure the thermostat, or even enter service mode. Upon failure, the Smart Wall Plate should never be removed from the wall and discarded, for the reasons stated above. Company Internal Company Internal

The following provides the general guidelines for which the e7 will manage the various temperature bands within the guestroom, based on occupancy and rented status. Rented and Occupied These rooms maintain the tightest control band around the guest set point. Default control band in this mode is +/- 1°F around the guest set point. This is called the Standard Delta. This parameter is configurable. Rented and Occupied in Eco-Mode These rooms maintain the control band around the guest set point. However, default control band in this mode is +/- 2°F around the guest set point to allow for more energy savings while the guest is in the room. This parameter is configurable. Rented and Unoccupied The temperature is allowed to float a moderate number of degrees away from the guest set point. Default control band in this mode is +/- 4°F around the guest set point. This parameter is configurable. Unrented and Occupied Rooms If the thermostat has not been used by a staff member after the guest Checked-out, then the thermostat will maintain the Unrented and Unoccupied Band while Unrented and Occupied. The thermostat display will read “OFF”. If the thermostat is used by a staff member after the guest has checked-out, the thermostat will maintain the standard delta (as in Rented and Occupied Rooms), but it will execute a hidden “Staff Clipping” temperature restriction. The default values for Staff Clipping are 68°F - 75°F where the room will not actively cool below 68°F and will not actively heat above 75°F when Unrented and Occupied. When the staff person exits, the room will revert to the Unrented and Unoccupied bands described in the row below. If you enter into an Unrented/Unoccupied room where a previous staff member has used the thermostat, the thermostat will remember the previous staff set point and it will work to satisfy the room temperature to this value within the staff clipping limits. If you enter into an Unrented/Unoccupied room where the thermostat has not been used after the guest check-out, then the thermostat will maintain the Unrented/Unoccupied limits. Unrented and Unoccupied Rooms The thermostat will allow the temperature to float within the Upper and Lower Unrented/Unoccupied limits. The default value of this range is 62°F to 78°F. The thermostat will not actively heat unless the room temperature falls below 62°F and it will not actively cool unless the room temperature rises above 78°F. This parameter is configurable.
