3 Word of the Week This week the word is Advent. The advent of something is its start or coming into existence. The word Advent also refers to the season just before Christmas including the four preceding Sundays. Use this word in a sentence like this: ‘With the advent of the internet, working from home has become a real phenomenon’. 4 Broxburn Academy Christmas Tree
This year why not bring your own Christmas tree decoration, write your name and the date on it with permanent marker and decorate the Broxburn Academy tree. Every year from now on you’ll have your own personal decoration on the school tree. Please bring your decorations to your registrar teacher.

5 SCHOOL TIES If you have borrowed a school tie from Pupil Support,
please return it to Pupil Support as soon as possible. If ties are not returned, parents will be contacted through Groupcall Thanks

6 SCHOOL CHRISTMAS CONCERT
Our School Christmas concert this year is being held on Wednesday 14th December at 7.00pm. Come along and get yourself in the festive spirit and enjoy performances from the hugely talented pupils and staff at Broxburn Academy. Tickets (£5) will be on sale in the BroxOffice at the front of the school every lunch time from Tuesday 6th – Wednesday 14th December. Alternatively by ing Mr McIntyre

7 Prom Fashion Show Prom Fashion Show Tuesday 6th December 7pm
Tickets £3.50 available from Mrs Dalgetty or Miss Leslie at lunch times.  Come along to see student performances, dancing staff members and our S6 models. The money raised will go towards the Prom and Teenage Cancer Trust.

9 Christmas Lunch Christmas Lunch Tuesday 13th December If you would like to have Christmas lunch, please speak to your Registration teacher.

10 Come to the Book Fair in your
school library Tuesday 6th December to Tuesday13th December. Books, stationery and posters all half price. The fair will be open every day all day. Bring some money. Treat yourself or buy Christmas presents for others at good prices. Dr Stewart

19 The University of Edinburgh: Lecture on Cyber Security
Sunday 15 December Opportunity to attend a lecture at Edinburgh University … great for applications and UCAS statement! The theme is "Cyber Security" and they may suit pupils with an interest in computing. These talks will take place 10 am – 12 noon and pm in our George Square Lecture Theatre, next to the main University Library, George Square, Edinburgh EH8 9LH. Cyber Security will be based on: * Digital Forensics * Ethical Hacking * Data Security These lectures, provided by industry experts, will bring the subject area to life in an educational but fun session.
