We took advantage of the extra space and painted large scale Pop Art pictures of Daniel Craig, Rhianna and Andy Warhol. In maths we made a maths game and had some one to one time with Mrs. Colley looking at aspects of maths that we find hard. In addition the children researched a topic of their own choice to present to the class. This week we have started our new topic on ‘Festivals’. Our focus text is a poem called ‘November Night Countdown’ which is all about Bonfire night. Next week we are going to write our own poems based on this. In art we have drawn and painted some lovely firework pictures which look very effective on black paper.

2 Shoe Box appeal Please bring in any small donations of gifts for the shoe box appeal as soon as possible. If you are unsure of what to include, please check with Mrs Toman. All donations, however small, will be a wonderful way of providing a present, at Christmas, for a poor child living abroad. Bring your teddy to school day Next week is walk to school week! The pupils are encouraged to walk, ride or scooter to school every day. On Wednesday they can also bring their teddies to enjoy lessons! Join the library! Joining Thornhill library is an excellent way to encourage your child to read and to access a variety of books. It is free! If your child is a member of the library they can go during school time when the library is open, to change or renew books. Please make your child a member ! Children in Need On Friday 16 th November the children are being asked to raise funds for ‘Children in Need’. To raise money we will be asking the children to come to school wearing pyjamas and in return for this privilege they will have to donate a £1. Arrival at school We are experiencing problems with children arriving at school too early in the morning from 8.30am onwards which often results in petty squabbles spilling over into class. The school doors do not open until 8.50am so please make sure your child does not arrive at school before this time. Christmas Shopping Trip – Glasgow Saturday 24 th November Mrs Toman has organised a trip to Glasgow on Saturday 24 th November. We will leave school at 8am and return at approx 8pm. The cost is £15.
