2. Finger Prints
Finger prints and certification renewal are usually done at the same time unless you had a lifetime certificate or retired from a different school system.
You will need to make an appointment with Ms Cathy Ashley or our Second Floor….DO NOT GO TO PUBLIC SAFETY TO BE FINGER PRINTED IF YOU ARE A SUBSTITUTE.
You will need to fill out our Substitute Finger Print Form (found under substitute resources at our Substitute Center), picture ID (Driver’s License is most commonly used) and a money order made out to RCSS for $39.75 to defray the cost that the Federal Government Charges us to run the background check. MS. ASHLEY CANNOT ACCEPT CASH OR A PERSONAL CHECK.

3. www.gapsc.com at the top of the home page click on certification

4. Click on the “here” if you are a current Georgia educator

5. Select either Certificate Renewal or your option to convert to a Retired Educator Certificate.

6. Certificate Renewal go to Certificate update application

7. Check that you are a substitute then either check “Renew my certificate” or “Request Retired Teacher’s Certificate”

8. Certificates
PSC prefers for you to renew on line. The cost is $20.00 to renew…you may use a credit card or debit card when you submit your application on line.
If you prefer to print the application out and send it…you will need to send the money in the form of a money order made out to GAPSC…it will take longer to process if you send hard copy requests to them.

9. Retired Teacher Certificate
Requires a letter from Teacher’s Retirement (on their Letterhead) stating that you are a retired educator.
You will need to go to and contact them via or phone ….you will need to request that they send you the confirmation letter so you can upload/attach it to your retired teacher certificate request.
