6. Defined Contribution design needs to be strictly enforced
All plans participating in defined contribution must have the same renewal (ie. medical, HSA, dental vision, etc.)
Exclude HSA from DC when setup on calendar plan year and medical on off-calendar
All plans must have the same # pays
Make sure contributions don’t leave a penny hanging around
Monthly payroll frequency won’t cause rounding or calculation variations
First of the month eligibility is the cleanest
old way Broker & HR designed plan then tried to push it in admin system won’t work
