1 Spring 2017 FSA Updates District Webinar January 23 and 25, 2017
K-12 Student Assessment

2 Welcome

3 FDOE Policy Updates

4 FSA Algebra 1 EOC Retake Students who need to retake the FSA Algebra 1 EOC or first- time test takers who are seniors participate in the Algebra 1 EOC Retake (March 27–April 7). Scores will be reported in time for seniors to have them prior to scheduled graduations. Students may not participate in both administrations. Test Administrators will use the Algebra 1 EOC script (no separate Retake script). Retake accommodations will be set in TIDE under the Algebra 1 column. Ensure schools administer the correct Algebra 1 Retake (FSA vs. NGSSS).

5 Accommodations – Closed Captioning
Closed Captioning (CC) for audio content on ELA Reading tests is available as an accommodation for eligible Deaf/Hard of Hearing (D/HH) students with this accommodation documented on their IEPs or Section 504 plans. CC is available in TDS for computer-based tests and AVA for paper-based tests. The Grade 10 ELA Reading Practice Test has CC as an available accommodation; CC will be enabled on other grade level practice tests in early February.

6 Accommodations – American Sign Language
American Sign Language (ASL) videos for audio content on ELA Reading tests is available as an accommodation for eligible D/HH students with this accommodation documented on their IEPs or Section 504 plans. ASL is available in TDS for computer-based tests and AVA for paper-based tests. All ELA practice tests are available with ASL. Sign in using test tickets with accommodations in TIDE Sign in as guest user Select ASL on sign in page Select ASL from the context menu in the test

7 Accommodations - Transcripts
Transcripts of audio content for ELA Reading tests will continue to be produced on a very limited basis for students who are: confined to Department of Corrections institutions and have no access to the internet/AVA; Hospital/Homebound and have no access to the internet/AVA; D/HH and ASL or CC accommodations are not appropriate for the student (e.g., tracking/decoding issues). Transcript information must be included on your paper-based accommodations spreadsheet.

8 Accommodations – Unified English Braille (UEB)
ALL Spring 2017 tests (FSA and NGSSS) are offered in UEB braille. English Braille American Edition (EBAE) will be offered as well (contracted and uncontracted). Please consult with ESE directors in your district to determine the appropriate version for eligible students. Braille transition chart posted to the FSA Portal under the Accommodations tab. UEB practice materials are available for order in the LP and Braille Practice Test administration in TIDE.

9 Paper-Based Accommodations for CBT Tests
Student eligibility for ALL paper-based accommodations must be confirmed at the district level and submitted to FDOE via spreadsheet. Beginning in Spring 2017, orders for more than 10 test and answer books (CBT tests only) must be approved by FDOE (matched against spreadsheet). Remember: paper-based accommodations should only be provided for CBT tests if students CANNOT access assessments on the computer.

10 Accommodations VW Julie Voicepack Reminders
Use of the Neospeech VW Julie voicepack is strongly recommended. Used by FDOE reviewers to verify pronunciation. Only available on Windows. If students are using other platforms, may come across pronunciation variations. (Test administrator can clarify.) Chrome 53 and 54 have TTS tracking issues, use another OS if students need to use TTS tracking.

11 Writing Stretch Break/Dismissal Policy
Administration scripts contain a stretch break at 60 minutes. Schools must determine the length of the break and ensure the correct remaining time is given. Schools may dismiss students or collect/submit materials and allow students to read after 90 minutes of testing. You will make this determination locally, by district or by school. This information will not be included in the test administration manuals or scripts; you must develop your own modifications/instructions.

12 Practice Test Requirements — CBT
CBT students are required to participate in a practice-test session prior to testing. Session in TA Training Site – secure browser Guest users – any supported browser Students with CBT accommodations must use the appropriate accommodated practice test. Text-to-speech – secure browser CBT Practice Test Scripts are located under the Scripts tab in FSA Resources. Students retaking an assessment who previously completed this requirement for the test they will take (EOC or Retake) are not required to participate in another practice test.

13 Practice Test Requirements — PBT
Students who will take an FSA ELA Reading or Mathematics paper-based test are required to participate in a PBT Test Item Practice Session. Directions for Completing Test Items and Scripts for the following grade-level/subject tests are on the FSA Portal under the ELA/Mathematics tab in FSA Resources: Grade 3 FSA ELA Reading Grades 4–10 Reading PBT Accommodations Grades 3–8 Mathematics PBT Accommodations Students taking PBT ELA Writing are not required to take a practice test, but are strongly encouraged to do so to become familiar with the amount of space they will have for their responses.

14 Calibration Reminders

16 School Level Tasks

17 TIDE

18 School Reminders Ensure accommodations are set in TIDE prior to test administration and practice tests. Print On-Demand PreID labels for students taking paper-based tests. Print test tickets prior to administrations. Ensure school coordinators and test administrators have access to user guides and manuals.

19 Student Search Results Inbox – New Feature
Available in February. Depending on the size of the search results, the list of students will either appear on the screen or export to an inbox. The View Results option won’t be available if the search is too large. View/Edit Student search page will remain the same. Districts will be able to search all students in all schools with the results going to the inbox. If you select this option (with no other search criteria), you will not be able to view on the search page.

20 Student Search Results Inbox – New Feature

21 Student Information – Adding, Moving, Setting Accommodations
Adding students When adding students individually, remember to set accommodations in the accommodations section. To set accommodations for Algebra 1 Retake, use the Algebra 1 column. To set accommodations for ELA Reading Retake, use the Reading column. To set accommodations for ELA Writing Retake, use the Writing column.

22 Student Information – Adding, Moving, Setting Accommodations
Tested Grade is used for above-grade testers. Please ensure this grade is above the enrolled grade when adding a student. Reading and Writing must be set to the same tested grade.

23 Student Information – Moving Students
Districts can move students within their districts from the View/Edit/Export Students page. When to move students: The student has moved schools in the middle of the administration. The score will be reported to the student’s school of enrollment in TIDE on the last day of the administration. If a student needs to be moved across districts during testing, call FDOE.

24 Rosters – PreID Rosters
PreID rosters are not editable. PreID rosters are generated nightly from the class code field.

25 Rosters – Add, Search, Modify, Delete
Remember to select a test administration when searching for students to add to a roster. This is also important to do if you wish to modify or delete a roster.

26 Invalidations and Requests
Creating and Uploading Create requests through the Create Requests page or upload multiple at a time through the Upload Requests page. Which requests to use in different scenarios: Invalidate a Test – the validity of the test is compromised & should not be scored. Re-Open a Test – re-open after it’s been fully submitted (student ended test too soon). Re-open a Test Session – a test session needs to be re- opened after the student has moved from one session to another and needs to return to the original session. Add examples to notes section.

27 Invalidations and Requests
Which requests to use in different scenarios (cont’d.) Restart a Test – if a student needs to restart from the beginning or an incorrect test has been started & shouldn’t be reported (all responses deleted from restarted test). Must be approved by FDOE. Restore a test that has been Restarted – a test was restarted by mistake. Must be approved by FDOE.

28 Invalidations and Requests Summary
Posted to the FSA Portal > Test Administration page. Use the document during the administration if you have questions about when to submit which requests. Send to school personnel to use during testing.

29 Monitoring Test Progress
Participation Report – Details all of a student’s test status. Find Result ID from this report. Helpful when determining different types of requests to submit. Test Completion Rates – Summarizes the number of students who have started or completed a test. Refreshes nightly. District- and school-level reports.

30 Test Delivery System (TDS)

31 Secure Browser 16-17 Secure Browser OS Upgrades
- Ensure schools who have not tested yet this year install the latest version of the secure browser prior to spring testing. - Remind schools to NOT upgrade operating systems until they are listed as supported on the FSA Systems Requirements document.

32 Test Administrator (TA) Interface – Test Colors
Subjects color-coded on the TA Interface correspond to the tests on the student side. Algebra 1 Retake, as well as ELA Reading and Writing Retake are listed under the “Retake” category.

33 TA Interface – Pause Icon
TAs can refer to the “i” icon in the Pause Test column for more information about how and why a student’s test was paused or exited.

34 TA Interface – Approving Students
Separate tables for approving students into the session or approving Exit Session requests for Grades 6–8 Mathematics. TAs can no longer Approve All Students for everyone requesting approval, they will need to approve separately for entering and exiting the session.

35 Grades 6–8 Mathematics Separate scripts for extended or short break.
Extended time students may test over three days. Same work folder for Sessions 2 and 3. Ensure TAs know to only approve exit session approval requests at the end of Session 2 when students are ready to move into Session 3.

36 Student Interface – Logging In and Common Errors
Ensure students: have been added to the administration are using the correct ticket (haven’t switched tickets) type their name exactly as printed on the ticket type the correct Session ID

37 Student Interface – Choose Test Settings
Just a reminder that print size, background color choice, and mouse pointer color and size are student-selectable options before the test. Students should review these settings in the practice test so they can make the appropriate selections on the day of the test.

41 Help Desk, Troubleshooting, Support
Remind schools to refer to Appendix B in the manual for all the information they will need when calling the Help Desk. Ensure schools contact you or the Help Desk immediately when issues arise, not later in the day. For Districts, when contacting FDOE for support Obtain student’s Result ID Use the Test Moves Template spreadsheet (upload to ShareFile) to request fixes for: Ticket switches (student must complete entire test) Tested under wrong ID School moves across districts (FLVS)

42 Paper-Based Testing

43 Assessment Viewing Application (AVA)
Practice tests are available in AVA so students and test administrators can become familiar with the site. Operational test content only available during the test administration window. Available in AVA: Audio Passages/animations ASL for audio passages/animations Closed Captioning for audio passages/animations TAs must have the AVA User Role assigned in TIDE.

44 PreID Labels All test and answer books must have PreID labels applied.
Algebra 1 Retake and ELA Retake – you will not receive labels; On-Demand labels must be printed. Ensure that schools Place labels in correct area Use correct subject labels for students Have enough blank PreID labels for On-Demand printing

45 Returning Materials NOT TO BE SCORED return labels are white.
Calibration labels are striped. Ensure that the correct administration is on the labels (e.g., braille labels are pink for all administrations) Look for instructions from return carrier.

46 Additional Orders Before placing an additional order, check for and use materials from your district/school overage. Based on the amount of unused test and answer books returned to DRC last year, we will review all additional orders and may contact you prior to approval.
