2 2 Test Administrator (TA)  Carefully and completely read and sign new security affidavit.  Complete test administration training.  View student information prior to testing, to ensure it is correct.  Ensure that appropriate designated supports and accommodations have been set prior to testing.  Set up and proctor testing.  Report all potential test security incidents to the SC and DC.  Increase comfort levels and reduce anxiety of students.  Encourage students to do their best.

3 3 Preparing for the Field Test  Practice Tests – SC & TA TAKE THESE! Released in May 2013. Available for grades 3–8 and grade 11 in ELA and mathematics. Approximately 30 items per test including one PT and a scoring guide. Archived Practice Test Webcast is available on http://californiatac.org. http://californiatac.org  Supported Web Browsers are: Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer 10 and Apple Safari

4 4 Preparing for the Field Test (FT)  Training Tests – STUDENTS TAKE THESE! Released on January 30. Available by grade band (3–5, 6–8, and high school) There are 6–8 items per content area per grade band Allow students to experience interface features and functionality. Do not include PTs or scoring guides. 5 5 TIDE – Test Information Distribution Engine  TIDE is a password-protected Web site.  Student designated supports and accommodations must be entered into TIDE before testing  Student demographic or grade can’t be updated in TIDE  The Student Information tab may be used to: Search for existing student records Export a list of existing student records View an existing student record View and update student test settings

6 6 Universal Tools, Designated Supports and Accommodations  Universal Tools: Available to all (breaks, strikethrough, highlighter).  Designated Supports : Need to be indicated by an educator or group of educators (color contrast, read aloud, glossary)  Accommodation : Based on IEP or 504 plan (American sign Language, scribe).  Embedded : part of the computer (digital notepad, calculator)  Non-Embedded : provided outside the computer (scratch paper, multiplication table)  Everything should be set before testing- one by one student or upload file.

7 7 Test Administrator Interface Test Administrator Instructions  Test Administrators need to use the interface to administer a test session. Go to Smarter Balanced Portal using the link http://sbac.portal.airast.org/ http://sbac.portal.airast.org/

9 9 Test Administrator Interface 3. Enter your user name and password (the same one you reset in TIDE). If you have not reset your TIDE password yet, call Jasmina Huskic immediately at 337-7077 or email her jhuskic@alameda.k12.ca.us. jhuskic@alameda.k12.ca.us

10 10 Test Administrator Home Page  After you login, you will see the home page of the TA Interface. Figure 1 – Before Starting a Test Session 4. TA must start a test session before students can log in. Select the tests being taken by clicking in the box.

12 12 Approving Students for Testing 6. TA approves a student for testing if setting is correct.  TA does NOT approves a student if setting is incorrect. If not correct, finish rest of class and then call Jasmina at 337- 7077 with all students who are not correct.  TA can stop an entire session or pause individual student by selecting the appropriate radio button.  Users should exit or log out of the TA Interface only after stopping the test session.

13 13 Monitoring Student Progress 7. TA needs to monitor all student progress.  The table below displays students who have logged in and been approved for testing AND shows student progress.

14 14 Pausing Tests  Through the TA Interface, TAs may: –Stop an entire session; or –Pause individual student tests.  TA needs to stop test section to exit or log out of the Test Administrator Interface If there is a technical issue (i.e. power outage or network failure), students will be logged out and the test will automatically be paused and student data will NOT be lost. –Note : If a test is paused for any reason or length of time, the student must log in again to resume testing. Highlighted text and item notes will not be preserved.

15 15 Pausing Tests - Performance Task  There is no pause rule for the performance task. −Even if a test is paused for 20 minutes or more, the student can return to the current section and continue.  ELA PTs are divided into 2 parts. After a student completes Part 1, he or she cannot return to it.
