4.  Enables you to be honest in your assessment of yourself, based on your experience preparing, practicing, and presenting.  Self-reflection enables you to move from just experiencing, into understanding.  Complete as specifically as possible:  How many times you rehearsed  What you did well!  Areas for improvement

6.  Move all of your desks together so that you are all facing each other.  Starting with the person who got the most hours of sleep last night, go through the speeches of your group. Everyone should tell the speaker the things they did well (GLOWS) and things they could improve on (GROWS)  Follow up any grows with a glow!  DO NOT JUST SWAP PAPERS AND WRITE DOWN—YOU MUST SPEAK TO EACH OTHER This is speech class, after all.  Feedback should be specific and applicable to future speeches.  “It was good” “Nice job” “Good eye contact” is not helpful.

7.  There is a difference between  “You were not loud enough” And  “It was difficult to hear, try speaking louder next time.”  “You never made eye contact” And  “Your eye contact was limited, try to look up at least twice to connect with the audience.”

8.  Your self-reflection with specific details  Your peer reflection with specific details  You may bring your feedback and evaluation form up to Ms. Osberg to receive your rubric back.

10.  When you receive your rubric back, look at the various feedback received.  Write down your score for each category in the “teacher” part on your pink reflection form  Note: Voice and Conclusion have been cut off, please record those as well!  Write down a Good Job and Work On comment  Using your scores from the rubric, grab a marker / crayon / colored pencil and graph out your scores for “Speech 2”  Finish graphing out scores for speech 1 if not yet completed.

How will I know when the goal is accomplished?  Attainable: What is a goal you are honestly willing to work toward?  Realistic / Relevant: a goal to which you are willing and able to work toward, something worth your time  Timely: the goal should be grounded in time—by when would you like to have this goal achieved?

13.  Examples of a good SMART Goal:  I want to speak more confidently and improve eye contact by practicing my speech at least four times a day.  I want to practice my speech 2 times a day until I can do my speech with hardly looking at notecards.  Bring eye contact up to 80% by practicing at least 5x or until I use notecards a max of 3 times per next speech.  Examples of a SMART Goal that is close:  I will improve my intro so I can gain my audiences attention by scoring a 3+ on the next speech.  For my next speech I want to use less verbal fillers  Look down at my notecards 5 times less than my previous speeches  Examples of a SMART Goal that needs work:  Be more formal  Loud clear voice  I want to give my speech  Less verbal fillers  Practice more
