10 GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS  Four years of English  Three years of math  One year of biology  One year of physical science  One semester of health  Seven semesters of physical education  One year of U.S. history  40 Total Credits  One semester of economics  One semester of civics  One year in either art, music, foreign language, family consumer science, bus. ed., or industrial technology  8 semesters of electives You mean that I have to pass all of my classes in order to graduate!!!!

11 STANDARD COURSE LOAD  You must take 6 classes  A 7 th class is a possible option depending on availability and other course selections.  The building is staffed first with all students scheduled into 6 classes

14 CLASS LENGTH  All courses are one year long unless there is 1s next to it.  Courses with a 1s are one semester long.  You must choose two 1s courses in order to fill a one year course to balance your schedule.

20 LANGUAGE ARTS  4 Years of English are required  Freshman English or Honors Freshman English is required  Elective classes include communications, speech, debate, newspaper, yearbook, creative writing,, acting, children’s theater workshop & technical theater  Freshman reading strategies will be determined by test scores

21 MATHEMATICS  3 years of math are required for graduation 2 years of algebra 1 year of geometry  Math is important in many careers

22 Mathematics  All math courses follow a sequence: Algebra 1-2, Geometry, Algebra 3-4, Pre- calculus &Trigonometry or Finite Math, Calculus AB or Statistics, Calculus BC  Both semesters of a course must be passed to advance to the next level.

24 PHYSICAL EDUCATION  7 Semesters of PE are required for graduation  Students in marching band may receive a PE waiver for first semester

25 SCIENCE   One year of biology and one year of physical science (integrated physical science, geology, chemistry, or physics) are required   COLLEGES REQUIRE THREE YEARS

26 SOCIAL STUDIES  Two years are required for graduation  Juniors must take US History or American Studies and Seniors must take Civics and Economics  Colleges require three years of social studies

28 AVID  AVID Placement in AVID will be made according to test scores, academic achievement, and teacher recommendations

31 Honors and AP Classes Honors and AP classes are designed to provide students with a rigorous and challenging curriculum, which may include summer work that must be completed prior to the start of the school year. Due to this fact, students will receive a weighted grade on our 4.0 scale if they receive an A or a B (5.0 for A’s & 4.0 for B’s)

32 CHOOSE CAREFULLY  Students WILL NOT be able to make any changes to the courses that are selected during the registration process!!!!!!!!!!
