How we did it? Entry Mapping Mapping out entry requirements to look for gaps Highlighting inconsistencies, concerns and issues Looking at specific information for Access/BTEC learners Involvement of Further Education Awarding bodies

What did we find? Sport - Positive Feedback A lot of the admissions staff were clear on what a BTEC was and the merits of the qualification The number of BTEC learners on some of the courses is starting to increase Partners were willing to share information with each other and were honest in their discussions

What did we find? Sport - Areas which need more work Acceptance of Key Skills as an alternative to GCSEs Acceptance of GCSE PE instead of GCSE Science Clearer IAG (in some cases) for BTEC learners going through the application process Knowledge about different vocational and non traditional qualifications

What did we find? Health – Key Issues A key issue, linked to maintaining and ensuring satisfactory standards, has been testing the literacy and numeracy abilities of applicants; all of the Higher Education institutions, involved in the agreement, test all applicants using tests of the same level. All partners agreed that this is an essential part of the thorough, equal interview process.

What did we find? Health – Key Issues Good, Overt, Communication – Students know the opportunities open to them Students understand the entry requirements Student Support Parity of progression for students from vocational courses with those from ‘A’ level courses.

How we’ve done it! The agreement Trust and honesty! Careful consideration given to the issues we identified Creation of a document which all partners sign Regular review process and on line version to ensure information can be kept up to date Calendar of events to include tracking and monitoring of learners progression

How we’ve done it The Learner Leaflet Creation of a clear and simple brochures for learners Personal statement support materials Reference writing support document for tutors Additional IAG contacts
