2 An update… All our school staff are in place… since we last spoke we have appointed an additional member of staff – Mrs Bull, our Finance and Admin Manager. All schemes of work are in place for September and the timetable organised. Our first scheme will be Who Am I? Classes and house groups have been organised and the children will meet their teachers today. What might a typical day consist of? 8.30am. School Gate opens. 8.40am. Parents bring children into cloakroom, they go into class for early morning activities like name finding, maths challenges, iPad activities 8.50am. Registration and morning welcome activity. 9- 9.40am Read Write Inc Activities. 9.40-10.40am Learning Time – a short taught English session followed by free flow activities. 10.40-11am. Break/ dedicated snack time (although snack available throughout the day.) 11-12am. Learning Time – a short taught Mathematics session followed by free flow activities. 12-1pm. Lunch followed by playground zoned activities 1-3pm Learning Time – Topic Activities (FS subjects)/ P.E./ R.E./ P.S.H.E. / Computing Activities followed by free flow activities 3-3.20pm Assessment for Learning/ Sharing Time.

3 Tel: 0845 459 0113 Practicalities for starting school… Welcome picnic will be on 6 th September – parents to stay with the children, this will involve us all eating together, us looking round the school and then showing the children where their coat peg, class area etc. will be for the following morning. No need to wear school uniform. Phased integration from 7th September – full school uniform please and please make sure this is all named All children will be provided with a free school meal, this will begin on 15 th September Children will need with them: -A water bottle named and filled each day please -Their P.E. bag including both an indoor and outdoor P.E. kit please -Their school bag with their reading book in (once they have one), any homework plus spare underwear just in case please! -Medication – school must be notified beforehand of this to ensure we can provide the necessary support, this should not be just sent in bags please We also ask children to buy and donate a children’s book for our school library. They take this up to the library with them when they first go up. You are obviously welcome to donate more than one if you wish.

4 Tel: 0845 459 0113 Drop off and pick up… Drop off will be via the main entrance in the morning if you arrive for 8.40am. Collection will be via the outdoor learning area if you collect at 3.20pm. Breakfast Club, After School Club and Care Club will be collected from the hall entrance. School Uniform can be collected on your way out today or you can pop in over the next week to collect it if you prefer. School Uniform… This can be collected week beginning 18 th July or on day of welcome picnic if you prefer. In September… No need to wear school uniform for the welcome picnic, they can come in their own clothes for this but please make sure they know the following day they will be in their school uniform. From Wednesday onwards, full school uniform please. Blazers need to be worn to school every day, the children hand these up as they come in and they wear them for special events like assembly. They must be in school every day please. All clothes must be named Summer uniform can only be worn in the summer term, winter uniforms from September please.

6 Tel: 0845 459 0113 Before and After School Care: Details of after school clubs for next term are available today. Bookings can be taken by Liz at our school office from today onwards. There is no obligation to book before September but places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. These will begin on Friday 16 th September 2016.

Be part of a team and have fun! Tennis! Over the net!!! Come join some fun tennis games. Construction Challenge! Do you have what it takes to make big objects out of things people throw away?? Sensory maze! What really happens when you use different senses, play lots of fun games to do with blindfolds, smell and touch. Club Two (Game On: Callum) Basketball! Bounce……Pass….Shoot! ! Work as a team to score those hoops. Animation Club! Making animated stories that you get to take pictures off and be your own author. Around the World Crafts!! Pyramids…Stadiums….an d iconic land marks. You name it we will make it. Foot golf! Golf in no way you have seen it before. Kick the balls to see if you can put it. Game stations! All the games under the sun played here. A fun filled hour with extra laughter. Club Three (Teacher or Game On: Maya) Spanish Reception Children only: Uno, Dos, Tres……let’s get counting! Have some fun learning another language. (NS) Cookery Design, Mix, Make and Taste with our exciting new cookery club. (CG) Cheerleading Dancing….lifts and pompoms. Join cheerleading for the fun! (Maya) Story Club Delve into books with this exciting club listening to stories and doing activities based on these. (AS) Wild Survival Experiment with outdoor learning, problem solving how to survive in the wild! (AP) After School Clubs…

8 Tel: 0845 459 0113 Care during phased start to school: Game On will be providing care around the start of school. This will be charged at £5 per hour and you can book for any number of hours that you wish. This MUST be organised as a private arrangement though and cannot be booked through our school office. This can be done by popping in to speak to Danielle or Callum from Game On any day between 7.30am and 8.30am or between 4.45pm and 5.45pm. It can also be booked via e mail on: gameoncoaching@live.co.uk

9 Drop off and pick up… We have a turning circle for parents should you choose to come by car, however we would encourage as many of you as possible to walk or cycle to school, we have a cycle rack available for anybody who wishes to use it however please ensure all bicycles are locked. All cars must park on Central Park Drive. Three entrances/ exits: Children should be dropped off at the Reception fire exit door Children should be collected from the classroom door by the playground. If children do after school clubs they are collected from the hall entrance. We would encourage parents to bring them into the cloakroom and help them hang up their coats and put their bags on the shelf then say goodbye to them as they go into their classroom

10 Contacting Us… We break up for the summer holidays on Friday 22 nd July. Before this you are welcome to pop in to school or contact us in the usual way. After this, if you need to contact us, please e mail office@rugbyfreeprimary.co.uk This will not be checked every day but we will try and check it at least once each week and will come back to you if you have a query. office@rugbyfreeprimary.co.uk
