January 30 Yesterday I watched a documentary on bears and when they attack; not just on hiking trails but also on city grounds. It said there have been 9 reported bear attacks that people survived from, 3 of them being near-death experiences. They come into human cities in search of human garbage. Like most animals, bears have easier access to garbage and like humans, love the taste of junk food. Bears come into human neighborhoods and scavenge for the food to provide their daily calorie routine. But the closer and the more humans live side by side with bears, the more common the attacks become. Read the journal entry below. Identify the nouns, verbs, and adjectives in the entry. In your journal, list at least 5 nouns, 5 verbs, and 5 adjectives. Write the proof out to the side to check yourself for accuracy. When you are finished, have a partner check your work.

In your journal, write the following sentences and label the nouns, verbs, and adjectives appropriately. 1. The newborn calf wobbled as it struggled to stand. 2. The arid climate kept me from growing flowers. 3. The intimidating bear approached the dumpster by our secluded cabin. 4. Our cabin offered a perfect view of the bear scrounging for food. 5. I jumped to my feet when the bell rang for lunch.
