2  Student Eligibility:  Turn 16 by January 1 st, 2016  Younger than 18 by July 27 th, 2016  Attend an MPS school and/or live in the city of Milwaukee  Must be registered for Driver Education Class Orientation for Registered Students

4  To Apply for your Instructional Permit:  You must pass both the written and vision test in class  You will need to visit a DMV service center  Present your MV3001 application (form to the right)   Bring your Social Security Card  Provide your original Birth Certificate Motor Vehicle Application

5 Electronic Permission Slip This form must be completed by the parent and turned into the classroom instructor at the next class.

6  General Rules  No food or beverages in class  ALL Electronic Devices are to be turned off during class.  (cell phone, ipods, mp3 players, etc.)  NO texting during class.  Attendance  State Standards require students to participate in 30 hours of classroom instruction.  Two late arrivals to class = 1 absence  If you miss three (3) classes for any reason you will be dropped from the program with no refund. 7  Disruptive Behavior  Steps that will be implemented if disruptive behavior occurs and or continues  Student will be removed from the classroom for a period of time  Parent will be contacted  Parent conference will be held  Student will be dropped from the program.  Temporary Instruction Permit  Instructors will give the written and road sign test during classroom hours.  If students pass both they can proceed to the Motor Vehicle Testing Station and pay $35 to obtain a temporary license. 10  Before you begin driving with your teen:  Make sure your vehicle is in good working condition.  Review your own driving habits.  Be a good example when you drive.  Know the Wisconsin traffic laws.  While you are participating with your teens:  Start with familiar streets.  Gradually introducing more challenging situations.  Use parking lots to start with practice.  Don’t ridicule your teenagers driving.  Stay focused on responsible driving. COACHING YOUR TEEN DRIVER

11  Things to remember :  Situations that allow for the most risk: driving at night, on weekends or with other teen passengers.  The five leading causes of teen crashes and fatalities, are inexperience, distractions, speeding, failure to use safety belts, and alcohol and drug intoxication.  If you are too scared to practice with your teenager, ask another adult family member. YOUR PARTICIPATION IS KEY! COACHING YOUR TEEN DRIVER

12  Students must complete 6 hours of behind the wheel training and 6 hours of observations.  When receiving instruction permit at The Department of Motor Vehicle, students are required to provide the following:  A MV3001 form  A certified birth certificate  A record of his/her social security number  $35 cash or check made payable to “Registration Fee Trust” Receiving your Instructional Permit

13  A representative from Arcade Drivers School will visit classrooms approximately a week after the test is given. This will give all students the time needed to obtain their temporary permit.  Students must have instructional permits with them.  The first behind the wheel appointment will be scheduled with the student in the classroom.  Each subsequent appointment will be scheduled with your student in the car with his/her driving teacher.  Students will be issued a receipt on each appointment, indicating his/her next scheduled driving lessons.  Behind the wheel appointments are very flexible, being offered after school, evenings, and weekends. 14  Students are required to bring his/her instruction permit to every driving lesson.  Students must meet at their designated classroom locations for their behind the wheel training.  Students are required to have an appointment scheduled at all times.  At No Time is a student allowed to bring a sibling and or friend with him/her on a behind the wheel lesson.  Behind the wheel lessons cannot be taken during classroom time.  Only students taking private behind the wheel instruction will be picked up from home. Throughout the Behind the Wheel Course

15  Students are required to contact the Arcade Drivers School office 24 Hours In Advance to cancel or revise a behind the wheel appointment.  Calling to cancel on the same day or failure to report for a scheduled appointment will result in the student being charged a $55.00 fee. NO EXCUSES OR EXEPTIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.  Behind the wheel appointments can only be cancelled or rescheduled by calling our office during business hours.  Appointments cannot be cancelled with the behind the wheel instructor or any social media networking site.  Missed appointment fees must be paid in full before the students last behind the wheel appointment in order for the student to complete the program. 16  Use of Arcade Drivers School vehicle for State Drivers Test. This is an additional fee of $80.00.  The State of WI does allow students to take diverse behind the wheel courses as follows:  7 hours of driving & 4 hours of observation - $40  8 hours of driving & 2 hours of observation - $80  9 hours of private driving & 0 hours of observation - $120  9 Hours of private driving includes Free home pick up  These are all courses that meet the state requirement, however it does not guarantee your student will have had enough training to become a safe and skillful driver. 18  Students Remember - Just because you have passed the test and received your permit it does not mean that you do not have to attend class. You must pass the classroom and behind to wheel to complete this program. To Complete the Driver Education Program

19  Students must:  Successful completion of both classroom and behind the wheel training  Return the textbook (if lost the cost is $50)  Any remaining fees paid (from Behind the Wheel)  After the above is completed:  A certificate of completion will electronically be transferred to the WI Department of Transportation and attached to your student’s driving record.  This process will take MPS Recreation and Arcade a minimum of 7 – 10 business days to complete. 20 Students:  Wait for your location to be called  Take a pen with you  Be prepared to learn - this is your first class Breakout Sessions Parents:  Stay in the Auditorium  Keep the all of the paperwork with you
