You can add a cover image to your Kahoot that will appear as the Kahoot begins. You can imbed a YouTube video for players to watch as they join.

Once you click Done, your Kahoot will be saved under My Kahoots. This is where all of the Kahoots that you create will get saved. The Public Kahoots folder stores Kahoots that other people have created that you can then edit and/or use.

When you are ready to play your Kahoot, go to http://getkahoot.com and log-in.http://getkahoot.com Click on the My Kahoots link. Click Play on the Kahoot that you wish to play.

Determine the type of Kahoot you want to play: Classic: Students play as individuals against one another. Team mode: Students play together as a team using one device to answer.

Your students will go to the webpage http://kahoot.it to join the game.http://kahoot.it Students can play using any mobile device or on a desktop computer. They will then enter the Game PIN generated for them. Once they enter the game pin, they will be asked to enter their nickname. *** Note: This is a good time to discuss the appropriate etiquette for using a mobile device in a classroom. You can also require students to use their actual name rather than a nickname.

If you want to edit a Public Kahoot, hover your mouse over the link to the title of the Kahoot you wish to edit. You will see a link titled Duplicate appear. Click on the Duplicate link. The Public Kahoot will now appear in your My Kahoots link for your account. Duplicated Public Kahoot Note My Kahoots is now 2 Click here to edit the Public Kahoot Once you finish editing the Kahoot, you will need to republish the Kahoot by clicking the Save and Continue button in the bottom right corner.

 Begin class with a Kahoot to review material discussed in the previous class meeting and grab students’ attention  End class with a Kahoot to assess students’ understanding of the material discussed  Use Public Kahoots as a “brain break” for students  When teaching longer classes, I have found that if I stop and play a Public Kahoot related to general trivia knowledge, students are able to take a break from the class and have fun.  They are then ready to return to the class discussion after a brief “brain break.”

 Various incentives can be provided to the winner of a Kahoot  I implement extra credit points towards an upcoming tests to provide a competitive edge to the Kahoot: 3 points to the winner, 2 points for second place, 1 point for third place  Award winners of a Kahoot with candy  Allow winners of a Kahoot to select an item from a “grab bag” filled with school supplies and/or items from your school or college bookstore

 Kahoots work best with questions that can be answered quickly rather than questions that take a process to complete  Example: I teach statistics and rather than having a student complete an entire hypothesis test problem, I use Kahoots to have them determine what type of test they would do.  Usually no more than 10-15 questions on a Kahoot  Do not allow more than about 30 seconds to answer a question  Great way to review vocabulary terms and symbols that students need to know

 Contact information:  Dr. Jamie H. Price  Email: jhprice@northeaststate.edujhprice@northeaststate.edu  Phone: (423) 354 – 2590  Kahoot ID: JHPrice  THANK YOU!!
