1 First Day of Class Student Registration Guide Linking LaunchPad to Desire2Learn Spring 2016 First Day of Class

2 What is LaunchPad? LaunchPad is an online course space that includes: Interactive e-Book Engaging multimedia Effective study tools Loads of quizzing 2

5 So how do you begin? Go to your institution’s Desire2Learn site. 1.Navigate to the Desire2Learn login screen and log in using your Desire2Learn username and password. 2.Find your instructor’s course and click on the title to open it. 3.In the navigation menu towards the top of your Desire2Learn course screen, click on the area where your instructor has put LaunchPad content. a.If you’re not sure which option it is, ask your instructor! b.You might also see a Macmillan Course Tools widget on your course home page. Click the LaunchPad logo. 5

6 Do you see a Privacy Notice? 1.You will see the “Privacy Notice and Terms of Use (“Legal Terms”) if this is the first time you have accessed a LaunchPad assignment through Desire2Learn. 2.Review the “Privacy Notice and Terms of Use (“Legal Terms”) and select “I have read the Legal Terms.” 3.Click “I agree to the Legal Terms.” 4.Before proceeding, determine whether you already have a Macmillan account. How will you know if you have an account? We’ll help you! Consider the scenarios on the next slide. 6

7 Could you already have a Macmillan account? If this is your first time encountering LaunchPad, you do not have a Macmillan account and must create one. Go to slide 8. If you used LaunchPad at a school you’re no longer attending, your account is invalid, and you should create a new one. Go to slide 8. If you recently purchased a shrink-wrapped package or an access card for this course and registered the code on the card, you have an account and should link it to Desire2Learn. Go to slide 11. If you used LaunchPad in another course during a previous semester, you have an account and should link it to Desire2Learn. Go to slide 11. 7

8 New to LaunchPad: Which screen do you see? Screen 1 Screen 2 Proceed to the next slide for instructions. 8

9 New to LaunchPad: Create a Macmillan account. Screen 1: Use your Desire2Learn e-mail to create a Macmillan Learning account. When you’re done, click Register. Screen 2: Enter your Desire2Learn e-mail address. You will now see the screen pictured here. Create a Macmillan Learning account. When you’re done, click Register. 9

10 New and returning users: Select your access option. Enter an access code that you purchased inside a package or by itself from the bookstore. Use a credit card or PayPal account to purchase access online. Sign up for 21 days of free trial access, after which you’ll need to purchase from your bookstore or online. Congratulations! When you complete your access option, you’ll be allowed to continue to LaunchPad, which will take you to the assignment you clicked on in Desire2Learn to initiate this process. 10

12 Returning users: Link your Macmillan account. Screen 1: Click Change to enter the e-mail address associated with your Macmillan account. If you don’t remember it, jump to slide 15 to learn how to contact our technical support team. Screen 2: Enter the e- mail address associated with your Macmillan account. If you don’t remember it, jump to slide 15 to learn how to contact our technical support team. 12

13 Returning users: Enter your Macmillan password. The system should recognize the e-mail address associated with your Macmillan account. Next, enter the password associated with your Macmillan account. If you don’t remember your password, use the click here option to have it sent to you. 13

14 Returning users: Select your access option or proceed to LaunchPad. If you see a screen prompting you to enter an access code, purchase online, or sign up for temporary access, see slide 10 for more information. If you’ve already registered an access code, purchased online, or signed up for temporary access, you’ll be invited to Continue to Product or Continue to Site. After continuing, you’ll be taken to the LaunchPad assignment you clicked on in Desire2Learn to initiate this process. 14
