1 Welcome to Trans Math 2 Taught by: Lorna Adams Location: Rochester Adams HS Hour: 4

2 Course Description This course is based around the TransMath program by Sopris West. The program has been designed to assist students who find math topics a challenge. The program starts out very basic and slowly, but steadily gets more difficult. Key components of the program are as follows: Addition & Subtraction of Fractions Addition & Subtraction of Fractions Multiplication and Division with Fractions Multiplication and Division with Fractions Working with Mixed Numbers Working with Mixed Numbers Operations with Decimals & Percents Operations with Decimals & Percents Analyzing, Understanding and Creating Graphs Analyzing, Understanding and Creating Graphs Geometry of Triangles & Quadrilaterals Geometry of Triangles & Quadrilaterals Units for Measurement Units for Measurement

4 Grading Your student’s grade will be based on the number of points they receive from participation (bellwork, classwork, & homework) and mastery tasks such as quizzes and tests. Obviously a zero will hurt; so all assignments must be turned in on time. 5 Late Work Homework must be turned in on the due date; no late work will be accepted unless discussed and agreed upon by me ahead of time. If your student is absent it is THEIR responsibility to find out what they missed. If they are absent the day an assignment is due, it is due the next day upon their return. “My computer/printer isn’t working” is not an excuse and will not be accepted. 6 Student Rules  Treat everyone and everything with respect  Follow all directions  No swearing, teasing, or put-downs  Be in your assigned seat when the bell rings  No MP3’s, iPods etc. unless approved by Mrs. Adams  No cell phones
