2 VitalsLink for Cerner VitalsLink™ allows vital signs and manual entry results to be captured and resulted into Cerner from the Welch/Allyn monitor providing a streamlined workflow. You can identify your patient via wristband scan and get VS as well as manual entries of resp rate, SPO2, HT and WT, and other data

3 VitalsLink for Cerner The acquired vital signs and manually entered results can be saved from the Welch/Allyn device and sent to the patient's chart in Cerner.

5 Log in to Welch/Allyn Device
To view the Clinician tab from the Home tab Touch the Clinician ID icon on the Home tab.

6 Log in to Welch/Allyn Device
Scan your ID badge. Your badge ID will display in the ID field. Touch the “OK” button.

The Home Tab Displays Your Cerner Username displays now Trouble shooting hint: If you scan your badge and get a message that the system does not recognize the user you need to reboot the monitor. You MUST wait until you see the symbol that shows that you have WIFI connection to proceed.

9 Scan the Patient ID Verify that you are on the Home tab
Point the scanner to the barcode. Scan the bar code by pressing the button. The patient last name, first name and FIN will display in the lower left corner of the screen

11 Enter Modifiers View the Manual tab. Touch the custom parameter box.

12 Enter Modifiers Enter parameters and modifiers.
Enter any modifiers or core vitals. This is where the respiratory rate will be entered. Patient position should only be entered if orthostatic reading are being taken and it is labeled Orthostatic Patient Position in production.

13 Enter Modifiers Scroll down to view other manual entry parameters- meal intake, fluid intake, and Level of Consciousness. LOC AVPU will be changed to Level of Consciousness. This value is needed for the early warning system. Begin documenting this value on March 28th.

15 Take Vital Signs Verify that you are on the home page. Take the Vital Signs and enter your manual entries. * You can enter manual items while the monitor is taking the Vitals VERIFY that the VS are correct

16 Take Vital Signs For inaccurate vital signs: Retake the BP as you do now. You can change other values from here by touching the number that you want to change, typing in what you want, and saving it. Do not select “SAVE” until you have changed any values that you want to modify. If you do save an incorrect value it can be modified from iView.

17 Take Vital Signs Suggested workflow is to set up the BP monitor and put on the SPO2 monitor (if not on continuously and chart the manual items while the monitor is taking the BP Note: The BP, SPO2 and Temperature may be taken separately as needed.

Verify that the VS are accurate. Touch the Save button.

20 Touch the OK button to acknowledge the message then
Save/Send Vital Signs The Save Successful message displays. Then The Send Successful message displays. Then Touch the OK button to acknowledge the message then the Vital Signs and manual documentation have been documented in Cerner!

21 Vitals Link for Cerner Tips and Tricks
1.) The monitor automatically logs you out when you are in Spot Check mode. 2.) If you forget your badge you will have to document VS manually; there is no way to log in manually. 3.) If the monitor won’t scan your badge check the WIFI connection and reboot the monitor. Don’t scan again until you see that connection is good- be patient! 4.) If you get a message that send was unsuccessful this is probably a WIFI issue- you may need to reboot the monitor. This is the icon for WIFI connection

22 VitalsLink Tips Call for VitalsLink issues. Please give us the patient name, FIN, room number, and your full name along with the problem. Go-Live is March 14, 2016 You will get a new name badge at the Care Summit; if you only see numbers instead of your user name when you scan your badge that means it is not set up correctly- call 2280.
