1 Using This Training This training contains a PowerPoint presentation that will guide you through the Blood Bank updates for the Cerner Millennium Upgrade PathNet Millennium 2007.08. At the end of the presentation, you will be given a 10 question assessment. To advance through this presentation, click on the forward button in the lower left corner of your screen. Important: Do not click the Next link at the bottom of the screen until you have reached the end of the presentation. Clicking Next will begin the assessment.

3 Overview Although there are no functionality changes in the new Cerner ME Rev (2007.08) versus the current Cerner ME Rev (2004.03.08), there have been some changes or additions to several of the Blood Bank applications. The following presentation will reflect these updates.

4 Overview The following applications have been revised and will reflect some changes: 1.Inventory Search 2.Patient Product Inquiry 3.Department Order Entry 4.Order Result Viewer 5.Receive Products 6.Result Entry 7.Final Disposition 8.Explorer Menu 9.Generate Tags and Labels 10.Correct Inventory (Final Disposition tab) 11.Dispense/Assign 12.Product History Review 13.Charge Viewer

5 Inventory Search 1. Previous Inventory Search application.

6 Inventory Search 2.New Inventory Search application. New feature will help refine your search to products that were bar-coded into the inventory.

7 Patient Product Inquiry 1.Previous Patient Product Inquiry application.

8 Patient Product Inquiry 2.New Patient Product Inquiry application. New location of Comment button Patient Demographic information is displayed differently

9 Department Order Entry 1.Previous Department Order Entry application.

10 Department Order Entry 2.New Department Order Entry application. Patient Demographic Information is displayed differently. More information is now displayed.

11 Order Result Viewer 1.Previous Order Result Viewer application.

12 Order Result Viewer Tests can be cancelled using the ORV button Patient Demographic information is displayed differently Patient’s Blood Group and Rh Type shows in ORV 2.New Order Result Viewer application.

13 Receive Products 1.Previous Receive Products application.

14 Receive Products 2.New Receive Products application. New field that is not required.

15 Result Entry 1.Previous Result Entry application.

16 Result Entry 2.New Result Entry application. The New tab will display saved worksheets. It also allows you to search for tests by Test Site, Ordering Priority and Order Date and Time.

17 Note: This option is not available in the Result Corrections task. Result Entry

18  QC has not been defined for Blood Bank.  If a Test site was chosen on the previous screen, it will be displayed at the bottom of the Result Entry Screen.

19 Result Entry  New location of the Comment icon.

20 Result Entry  New buttons are available.

21 Result Entry New Worksheet button allows you to add a new worksheet or retrieve a “saved” one. Worksheet properties button allows you to re-name the worksheet with a hotkey (shortcut) name. Save Worksheet button allows you to save the worksheet and come back at a later time to complete the testing for that accession number. Refresh Worksheet button allows the system to clear the current worksheet and repopulate the worksheet with its associated procedures. Note: These tasks are not available in the Result Corrections task.

22 Result Entry  Below is an example of how to use the Existing tab. Displayed are three worksheets that were saved and can be retrieved without re-entering the accession number when entering test results. Once the results have been verified that worksheet will need to be deleted from the Existing tab. (The system does not automatically delete the worksheet once the test has been completed.)

23 Result Entry  If you choose the Existing worksheet tab, the system will display all worksheets that have been saved. If you only want to display the worksheets created by you place a check in the My Worksheets box.

24 Final Disposition 1. Previous Final Disposition application.

25 Final Disposition 2. New Final Disposition application. There are now only 2 reasons for disposing of blood products or derivatives.

26 Explorer Menu 1. New Explorer application. Below are examples of windows that will appear when the mentioned reports are executed. Similar screens will appear when the other reports from the menu are requested.

27 Generate Tags and Labels 1. New Generate Tags & Labels application. After ISBT implementation, you will be able to “reprint” a label for the modified product(s).

28 Correct Inventory 1. Previous Correct Inventory application, the Final Disposition tab.

29 2. New Correct Inventory application, the Final Disposition tab. Note: Although this tab is undithered in the Current Production 2004.03.08 version, it is inactive and does not work. Correct Inventory This tab is no longer active, therefore blood products cannot be returned using it.

30 Dispense and Assign 1.New Dispense and Assign application. In the “Save” dialog box, after you type in the patient’s location, press the TAB key. The system will default the correct configuration of the patient’s location.

31 Product History Review 1.Previous Product History Review application.

32 2. New Product History Review application. New placement of the Alert buttons. The New button indicates the electronic entry of the product. Product History Review Note: If any of the electronically submitted information is manually modified, the bar code indicator is removed.

33 Charge Viewer 1. New Charge Viewer application. To enter additional charges without using DOE, you can utilize the Batch Charge entry task.

34 Charge Viewer  You are now able to enter a Quantity of charges.

35 Charge Viewer  The system will post and bill the correct number of charges entered.

36 You have reached the end of the presentation. To begin the assessment, click the Next link at the bottom of the screen.
