3 Shi Huangdi believed in strong/harsh rule Great Wall of China Connected walls built by previous rulers Built with labor from farmers and merchants 10 years to build Wall fell into disrepair after he died Later emperors rebuilt and added on to it Now it is 4500 miles Built roads Armies could quickly get around to put down rebellions Killed local leaders who opposed him Divided China into districts, ruled by trustworthy leaders

13 Arts: Silk weaving, bronze work, architecture, poetry, jade carving Medicine: Acupuncture, herbal remedies, discovered circulatory system Technology Paper, iron plow, rudder, seismoscope, compass, wheelbarrow Most of these accomplishments came during Han Dynasty Chinese today still call themselves “the children of Han”
