2.  Atoms are made of three (3) smaller particles called:  PROTONS – Positively charged particles (+)  NEUTRONS – Particles with NO charge (0)  ELECTONS – Negatively charged particles (-)

5.  Substances made of ONE KIND of ATOM  Examples include:  Carbon – C  Nitrogen – N  Oxygen – O  Hydrogen – H  Iron – Fe  Calcium - Ca

7.  Substances made of two (2) or more different ELEMENTS which have been CHEMICALLY COMBINED.  Examples include:  Water (H 2 O)  Sodium Chloride (NaCl)  Glucose (C 6 H 12 O 6 )  Carbon Dioxide (CO 2 )
