13 REQUIREMENTS Students must demonstrate good academic standing. Students must meet the Dual Credit Testing Requirements for eligibility. 9 th & 10 th Grade Students must be TSI Complete in both Reading & Writing Demonstrate continuous success in dual credit courses. Must have High School Counselor’s approval of academic performance, all courses enrolling for each semester. (Dual Credit Permit to Register Form) Must meet all the college’s regular prerequisite requirements designated for the courses in which enrolling.

14 PROGRAM ADMISSION STEPS STEP 1= Complete Admission Documents – Application for Admission Apply Texas – Parent Permission Form – High School Transcript – Permit to Register All appropriate approvals – Test Scores Must submit score reports – Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination Record Needed only if taking courses on the Navarro College Campuses

15 PROGRAM ADMISSION STEPS STEP 2= Registration  Submit all necessary documents to your High School Counselor by the set deadlines.  ALL documents must be submitted to the HS Counselor. Once all paperwork is received it will be submitted to Navarro.  Once the Dual Credit Office has processed your enrollment documents we will send an E-mail confirmation and billing information to the E-mail address provided.

18 DEADLINES  Fall/Spring Paperwork: Submit to the counselor by the high school deadline.  Summer Paperwork: Bring directly to your local Navarro College Dual Credit Coordinator.  Testing Deadline: Testing should be completed one week prior to the start of the semester enrolling.  ALL paperwork, testing, and payments must be completed by the week before the semester begins.

23 What Is the TSI Assessment ? The TSI Assessment is a program designed to help your institution determine if you are ready for college - level course work in the general areas of reading, writing and mathematics. Testing Dates - February 8-11 starting at 4 pm February 22-25 starting at 4 pm WHS library computer lab You can also take the TSI at Navarro for $30 23

24 24 The Mission of the Education Foundation for Waxahachie ISD is to enhance the quality of educational opportunities in the Waxahachie Independent School District. Education Foundation Dual Credit Scholarships This scholarship was established in 2008 to aid Waxahachie High School students wishing to begin their college degrees at Navarro College. To apply, students must meet the following criteria : Waxahachie High School student Student must have successfully completed the previous grade level Student must have met the academic qualifications to enroll in Dual Credit Student must qualify for support of financial need ( i. e. by providing current parent tax information, free or reduced lunch program, or other supporting information ). Scholarships will be awarded to those demonstrating the most financial need first. Students receiving a Navarro College Brilliance scholarship are not eligible for an Education Foundation Scholarship. Dual Credit Scholarships will be awarded once a year, for both fall and spring semesters. If you wish to enroll in dual credit classes both semesters, please ensure you list all classes you would like to take on this application. DEADLINE : DEADLINE : Applications are due back to the WHS Counseling Office by Friday, April 29, 2016 at 4:00 p. m.

25  ALL DUAL CREDIT REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET AND PRE - APPROVAL RECEIVED PRIOR TO ENROLLMENT.  Must complete and turn in an Honors Agreement  HS Counselors ’ approval is required. Course availability at Navarro College is contingent on staffing and enrollment.  DC classes will follow Navarro ’ s grading policies. Students who are dropped by the institution of higher learning, will remain in the scheduled class, but will receive grades on the 4.0 scale.  WISD accepts no responsibility for a college ’ s acceptance of dual credit transfer courses. Students are responsible for payment of all required fees, tuition and books for both semesters by the deadlines provided  Students are prohibited from retaking a DC course for the purpose of increasing their final grade. The student ’ s initial grade will be placed on the High School Transcript unless they are re - taking / re - enrolling because they earned a failing grade. 25

28  In general, Dual Credit students are not permitted to enroll in courses off campus. Exceptions may be considered when a student needs a course for graduation and is unable to complete it any other way.  Each request will be reviewed on a case by case basis and a student ’ s prior success in a DC class will strongly be taken into consideration.  If approved ONLY ONE class will be allowed. $398  Classes CANNOT be taken off campus in order to gain an off period.  All DUE dates apply to summer classes as well. 28

29  On - line DC Courses are NOT recommended  On - line classes CANNOT be taken in order to gain an off period.  Students who wish to enroll in online courses must first go into Blackboard and complete the READI Assessment to evaluate their readiness for online coursework.  Online courses require more discipline than live courses and I take full responsibility for my success or failure in this course. 29

30 Dual credit courses are college level classes. Dual Credit courses are the same class that you would have if you attended the college accrediting the course. Students need to exhibit the maturity level and responsibility of someone taking a college level class. Payment is due to Navarro by June 1 st. The grade will go on both the students HS and college transcript and cannot be taken for a higher grade at the HS level unless the student failed to earn credit. It ’ s always recommended that you check with your potential universities to make sure the credit will transfer. While we expect students to be very successful in Pre - AP, AP, or Dual Credit classes, it ’ s important to take close look at the student ’ s total course load and commitments to other activities when choosing how many courses to take during a semester. For some students, the best way to begin moving into these courses is by beginning with one, until they better understand the expectations and time commitments involved. 30
