1 SELF AND OTHERS PDHPE ENCOURAGES AN UNDERSTANDING AND VALUING OF SELF AND OTHERS PDHPE teaches students about interpersonal relationships and communication. Students develop skills for building appropriate relationships. PDHPE develops each student’s understanding of their own physical, social, cognitive and emotional development in the context of increasing awareness of changes that occur throughout the cycle of people’s lives. PDHPE promotes positive feelings that help an individual manage with change.

2 PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PDHPE encourages students to adopt an active lifestyle which is concerned with adopting physical activity patterns that promote their wellbeing, examining components of a balanced lifestyle, and develop the skills and attitudes necessary for an active lifestyle.

3 PERSONAL HEALTH CHOICES PDHPE influences individuals, the process of making lifestyle decisions and putting them into practice. Such healthy choices are often related to nutrition, hygiene, consumerism, drug use, the environment and disease prevention.

4 SAFE LIVING PDHPE educates students about safe and unsafe environments and practises. It develops in students the ability to act in ways that will help keep themselves and others safe from harm. They develop decision- making and problem- solving skills which allows them to adopt safe- living.

5 MOVEMENT PATTERNS & COORDINATED ACTIONS TEACHES FUNDAMENTAL MOVEMENT PATTERNS AND COORDINATED ACTIONS OF THE BODY PDHPE develops the ability to communicate and express themselves through movement. They become aware of the space in which they move, the time and quality of their movements and their relationships to each other and objects. Students develop fundamental movement skills that may be utilised in competitive and non- competitive environments that can foster positive feelings of success and enjoyment.
