2 ♯ TVPEConf Workshop outcomes By the end of this workshop, you should be able to: define a school-club link understand the wider benefits of community club links understand the School Games Mark criteria relating to club links at bronze, silver & gold level understand the benefits of SLAs with community partners know where to find details of local clubs and how to quality assure them know who to contact locally for advice

3 ♯ TVPEConf What is a club link? A school- club link is an agreement between a school and a community-based sports club to work together: to meet the needs of all young people, whether they want to get involved: - as an elite performer - to enjoy sport and develop their skills - for social or recreational reasons - as a young leader or coach - as a club officer

4 ♯ TVPEConf What is a club link? to provide new and varied opportunities for young people to help young people to realise their ambitions in sport by providing pathways to follow to agree good standards of provision and put in place quality controls to ensure standards remain high A poster/leaflet advertising a club does not in itself constitute a school-club link

5 ♯ TVPEConf Examples of Club links Group activity Discuss the links that your school has with local sports clubs/providers. 1.Do they meet the criteria set out above? 2.Examples – good/bad

6 ♯ TVPEConf Benefits of good Club Links Improved social development of students Increased opportunities and pathways for students Specialist coaching to complement/support teachers Increased health and wellbeing of students Community cohesion Access to high quality sports facilities/facility efficiencies Income generation/increased funding opportunities Recognition as an institution that supports development beyond the school environment (Value Added) Positive image of school/increased profile locally
