6 WGISS Themes for 2010 o Focus on WGISS Objectives o Support 2010 CEOS Work Plan o Work closely with CEOS Working Groups o Respond to User Vice Chairs’ recommendations and requests o Strengthen relationship with active WGISS Liaisons

Focus on WGISS Objectives o Subgroups need to ensure that all approved IGs, Projects, Presentations fulfill one (or more) of the WGISS Objectives (See Reference in WGISS 5 year plan) o WGISS29 Expected outcomes o All IGs and projects to submit their project plans (if not yet done) to WISP to post on the WGISS Website o Clearly identify which objectives shall be served and how o Expected deliverables (Outcomes, Prototyping, or Demonstration) should be identified with milestones o List of 2010 expected deliverables for IGs s/Project shall be identified o WGISS Summary list of 2010 expected deliverables o Current status to be reported

Support the 2010 CEOS Work Plan o IGs/Projects should focus mainly on responding to the 2010 CEOS WP o CEOS Key Deliverables o Global Monitoring of Greenhouse Gases from Space (GHG), Forest Carbon Tracking, Data Democracy, Climate Change o Virtual Constellations o Portals ?? o Special recommendation from GEO/CEO on LSI portal should be addressed o CEOS in support of GEO Work Plan o 9 GEO tasks o Special requests from Disaster SBA on the model illustrating the role of information system and service for Data Dissemination o WGISS-29 Expected outcomes o Identify key activities that your IGs and projects support and their associate expected deliverables o Current status

Work closely with CEOS Working Groups o WGCV o Possible, interesting, and useful joint activities o Expected deliverables should be identified o Joint meeting should be planned o WGISS-29 Expected outcomes o A draft plan for 2010-2011 WGCV-WGISS joint activity o Champion for this joint activity

Respond to User Vice Chairs’ recommendations and requests o Role of user vice chair o To assess the extent to which user needs are being addressed by WGISS and the extent to which their requirements are being met. o How can WGISS respond? o Convening workshops, authoring papers, developing information technology infrastructure that increases the interconnectivity and reuse of key information software and services in use across the broad spectrum of EO communities o WGISS-29 Expected outcomes o A summary of user requirements from User Vice Chair to which WGISS can respond in 2010-2011 timeframe and how

Strengthen relationship with active WGISS Liaisons o Current Liaisons as appear in the WGISS 5 year plan o Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS) (part of ISO TC20/SC13). o Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC). o International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS). o International Standards Organization (ISO) o International Council on Scientific Unions (ICSU) o Committee on Data (ICSU/CODATA) o GSDI o WGISS-29 Expected outcomes o List of active Liaisons o Future plan for coordination o Make a practice that the PoC report to the incoming WGISS plenary
