5 Religious Education Support - PDST5 EVANGELIST The first of the Gospel written was the Gospel of Mark, It is believed that Mark wrote this gospel AD 65 in Rome. Mark wrote for gentiles – non Jewish people who had become Christian. Mark presented Jesus as the teaching Messiah but also as the suffering Messiah.

6 Religious Education Support - PDST6 EVANGELIST Written around AD 85 Matthew wrote for Jews who had converted to Christianity Matthew was a teacher who also worked as a Rabbi which explains his knowledge of the Jewish scriptures. This Gospel presents Jesus as the great Teacher who teaches about God’s kingdom.
