www.giga-net.co.uk Smart Intelligent Building A smart Building is an Intelligent space that will transform efficiency, comfort and safety for people and assets.

www.giga-net.co.uk Legacy based cabling systems Different Media types used for Data, Power, Coax, Fibre etc. Direct power required for each equipment Separate BMS Management systems for each application IP systems managed by IT department and analogue / non- IP systems managed by Facilities. Smart Building systems integrate all applications using IP

www.giga-net.co.uk FULLY IP CONVERGED SMART SYSTEMS

www.giga-net.co.uk GIGANET Smart Building Solutions Copper Category 6A RJ45 fully shielded low voltage connection to IP based systems. Both Power and Data over 4 pair cable. Open office Cabling using consolidation points. Work with IP vendors and partners for System Integration.

www.giga-net.co.uk Applications that run over IP

www.giga-net.co.uk Savings on OPEX and CAPEX Savings on Power using POE Low energy consumption Rapid deployment Reduced Pathways One main contractor on site Reduced Installation Costs Ease on MAC High flexibility Easy to configure and manage IP based systems Benefits of IP based systems

www.giga-net.co.uk LEGACY BASED CABLING IP DATA CABLING SYSTEMS Power,CCTV, Phone, Access control, Audio, Fire Alarm, Lights, IP based Converged cabling systems Optical Fibre and Category 6A F/FTP

www.giga-net.co.uk IEEE PoE Standards and High Power PoE IEEE 802.3af PoE (15.4W) and 802.3at PoE+ (34.2W) IEEE 802.3bt PoE Type 3 60W PoE IEEE 802.3bt PoE Type 4 100W PoE

www.giga-net.co.uk POWER OVER ETHERNET TRENDS 30 watts POE over 2 pairs – Wireless, CCTV, Access control, IP phones etc. 60 Watts POE over 4 pairs virtual Desktops and Smart thin clients 90 Watts POE over 4 pairs – Video Screens / Display applications

www.giga-net.co.uk GIGANET CATEGORY 7A/6A TO SUPPORT IP CONVERGENCE AND POE APPLICATIONS  GIGANET Cat7A S/FTP Cat 6A F/FTP and S/FTP cable with all 4 pairs fully shielded with overall foil and braid to eliminate cross talk with grounding  Maximum loss of 3M  Improved Heat dissipation up to 75 degrees as heat remains within the foil without attenuation loss  GIGANET Category 6A die-cast Metal module with grounding and bonding to eliminate cross talk  Module designed for improved heat dissipation and load which eliminates Arcing Cat 7A Cat 6A

www.giga-net.co.uk Giganet connectors and cables are specifically designed to handle remote powering current loads Prevents associated heat build-up and contact arcing, minimising the risk of component damage and transmission errors Giganet CAT 6A modular connecting hardware complies with IEC 60512-99-001 specifications Potential for arcing under load conditions

www.giga-net.co.uk Open Office Cabling Consolidation Point (CP): One CP is permitted between the Floor Distributor and any TO The CP shall only contain passive connections The CP shall be located so that each work area group is served by at least one CP The CP should be limited to serving a maximum of 12 Work Areas The CP should be located in accessible permanent locations such as ceiling voids and under floors

www.giga-net.co.uk Link Definition

www.giga-net.co.uk Open Office Cabling Consolidation Point (CP): For balanced cabling, the effect of multiple connections in close proximity on transmission performance should be taken into consideration when planning the cable lengths between the Floor Distributor and the CP. At least 15 m (50ft) is recommended. The CP has labelling and documentation requirements and shall be covered in the cabling administration system.

www.giga-net.co.uk Enterprise Convergence Platform for Building Systems and IT Systems

www.giga-net.co.uk Higher education Healthcare, mainly hospitals Governmental buildings Transport (airports) Offices Sports Stadiums Life science/pharmaceutical industry High tech/precision manufacturing VERTICALS  New build and major refurbishmen t TRENDS  Remote access to data (needs to be IP) - Could be Cloud based  Cheaper sensors, processors and available application software  Possibility of generation data from M2M/IoE  PoE platform – Low voltage lighting systems and sensors  Uptake of wireless protocols  Increasing use of software packages Who is driving convergence? IT companies Consultant / design engineers Facility managers End-users (property EPC (Gov, Edu, IT SIs Source: Market Sizing for North America – Intelligent Buildings Healh) investors) Characteristics and Trends

www.giga-net.co.uk In the future, the definition of a smart building will continue to expand, as the technology evolves and as the regulatory and standards environment for DR and building automation matures. Together, smart buildings and the smart grid will continue to reinforce each other, providing continuing opportunities to improve energy efficiency, as well as the economics of operating the electricity grid. Future Scope
