The 7 Habits of Happy Kids
2
The fact is, we are going to hear negative comments about ourselves from time to time. We cant stop it from happening, but we can prepare ourselves by learning that we have a choice. We can let rude comments ruin our day or we can choose to ignore them and replace them with positive self-talk. This doesn’t mean that negative comments won’t hurt- they always do. But we don’t have to believe them or let them get to us.. Learning to be the master of our own mood is challenging; but that is exactly what it means to be in charge of your own life, or to be PROACTIVE-the 1 st Habit.

How can I control my attitude? I’m not good at this. Instead of…Try thinking… I’m the BEST at this. I give up. This is too hard. I can’t make this any better. I just can’t do math. I’m so stupid, I made a mistake. She’s so smart. I will never be that smart. It’s good enough. This will never work! I will never be good enough! Why can’t I make this perfect? What am I missing? This is one of my strengths. I’ll try some of the strategies I know. This may take some time and effort. I can always improve, so I will keep trying. I’m going to train my brain (practice) in math! Mistakes help me learn better. I’m going to figure out how she does it so I can try it! Is this my best work? I will try something different (Plan B). I already am good enough! All I have to do is my best! Everyone makes fun of me I love myself just the way I am!
