5.  He led the colonial forces in the revolutionary war.  The first president of the Untied States of America.

7.  Before he became president George Washington was a soldier.  He had a rank of major in the Virginia militia.

8.  On the 25 th of December 1776 Washington and his troops crossed the Delaware river.  The harsh winter weather made it difficult to cross.  After they reached the other side Washington lead his army to Trenton witch was Continental army’s first major victory.

9.  George Washington was married to Martha Dandridge Custis.  Martha had no children with George, but she had two children from her first marriage.  Both of their children died.  His family had some distinction in England and were granted land by Henry VIII.  His father Augustine was a tobacco farmer.  Augustines first wife died in 1729. Then in 1931 he remarried to a woman named Mary Ball.  George was the oldest of their 6 children.

11.  Washington started school at age 6,but left at 15.  He had all of his teeth pulled and wore fake teeth.  He lost most of his battles.  He is the richest president ever.  He had no middle name.  He didn’t wear a wig. Every picture was real hair.  He was made an honorary citizen of France.
