2 Course Content Certificate 3 in Spoken and Written English (CSWE 3) Nominal hours for CSWE 3 are 500 in class + 700 hours of out-of- class study (this involves homework and out-of-class tasks set by teachers, including research and study in individual learning centres, computer rooms and in the community). If you are studying online you work at your own pace and intensity. NOTE: Delivery hours are nominal and may be varied to suit the delivery context and the needs of the learners. Completion of 9 modules is required to successfully complete CSWE 3 – see the attached module overview 1 compulsory module + 8 elective modules must be completed The compulsory module is module A: Advanced Learning Strategies (20 hours) The 8 elective modules (60 hours each) must include at least 2 spoken text elective modules and at least 2 written text elective modules

3 Assessment Certificate 3 in Spoken and Written English (CSWE 3) In CSWE 3 learners must demonstrate skills in dealing with spoken and written texts from different contexts by completing a variety of modules You will learn these skills in class and out of class as well as online through a range of tasks and activities which will prepare you for the final assessment You will be informed of assessment times and processes prior to assessment

4 Pathways Certificate 3 in Spoken and Written English (CSWE 3) CSWE provides language, literacy and numeracy skills that can be applied to entry into vocational and / or further study pathways. Pathways through the qualification may include: Full time or part time study with a registered organisation Institution-based training Flexible learning through online courses, print distance learning resources or a tutor Blended learning options through distance and face to face study Recognition of prior learning (RPL)

5 Study Modes Certificate 3 in Spoken and Written English (CSWE 3) Study may be by distance (distance learning, blended learning or online learning) or face to face (classroom) Modules may be studied and assessed as stand-alone modules or as a combination of modules In some study modes (distance learning, blended learning and online learning) provision must be made for communication that would normally be conducted face to face, including telephone, video or online conferencing, videos of performance and online discussion or chat
