2 Present-Tense Verbs A present-tense verb tells about something that is happening now or is continuing to happen. The verb form must agree with the subject of the sentence.

3 Present-Tense Verbs A singular subject requires the singular form of a verb. A singular verb ends in s or es.

4 Present-Tense Verbs A plural subject and the pronouns I and you require the plural form of a verb. Most plural verbs do not end in s or es.

5 Present-Tense Verbs A compound subject joined by and uses the plural form of a verb. When a compound subject is joined by or, either/or, or neither/nor, the verb form agrees with the subject closer to it.
